Embarrassed by him

-

I am embarrassed to live in a state that elects a self-righteous, ignorant glory-seeker like Sen. Jason Rapert. It appears this clown was delighted to see his monument destroyed because that means more “air time” for him. What is sad is he seemingly does not realize the national news organizations are using him to show the small-minded stereotypical Arkansas people, in effect making fun of him and his religious causes.

By going to these extreme measures to place this monument on government property, he has now opened up a whole can of worms with other fringe groups to be able to place their own idolatry objects on the Capitol grounds. It’s not about his religious beliefs, it’s about getting noticed.

Rapert says he does not want to live in a country that resorts to violence over disagreements. What about Senator Rapert going on social media a few months back to try to destroy the earning potential of a common street vendor who opposed “Baby Jesus” Rapert’s beliefs? That’s the true Christian spirit!

As far as his “monument,” I have never needed a giant piece of granite to conduct my life with honor and dignity. Maybe he needs to go out every day at lunch and get a good soul-cleansing. It sure takes more than a big rock to restore politicians’ decency and integrity.

I pray the intelligent citizens of his district will get tired of the embarrassment he is causing them and the entire state, and go to the polls to force this attention-seeker to get a real job. ALAN DAUGHERTY Hot Springs
