Greg loved his job and truly had no idea the impact he had on the youth in our community. The relationships he built with the boys and girls didn’t end when they graduated from the club as he continued to be a father figure, counselor, and friend to many well into adulthood. Greg loved his family and friends and the James H. Penick Boys and Girls Club family more than anything as his door was always open to anyone and everyone.

“Greg was an inspiration to us all. He mentored so many people throughout his lifetime. Whether he was at the boys club during working hours or at home on his own time. He always had time for any young person who needed guidance or words of wisdom. His presence was so well known and respected in this community. He was loved by all that knew him.” said lifelong friend, Chris Robinson.

During their 30 years of marriage, they were blessed with two boys whom he adored, Clark, 25, and Carter, 22.Together they enjoyed all things sports.Whether it was the Razorbacks, Holy Souls Wabbits, Catholic High Rockets, or Arkansas Stars, they were always there and always cheering. He and Missy traveled to several states with the boys to watch them play AAU Basketball and they also loved to go to Hot Springs to watch the horses race at Oaklawn. Greg was also an avid hunter and loved to hunt. He taught his boys to hunt at an early age and they still hunt today at Spur Road Hunting Club in Ivan, AR. He loved all his buddies at the hunting club. He never missed any events that involved his boys or his family.

Patrick Sullenger, one of Greg’s kids, said,“I’m so grateful to have had Greg (GG) in my life. From a young age he has been a coach, a boss, a mentor, and most importantly a friend. GG lived his life in service to others. He worked hard and did everything he could for anyone that needed help, including me. He helped raise me to be the man and father I am today. He was always there with wise words and guidance when I needed them, always telling me,‘do the right thing.’ His success is shown through his own boys and all the kids he has.” Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, from 6-8pm at Roller Chenal, 13701 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR.
