Promoted Arkansan gets new Army post

A Mountain Home native has been named principal military deputy to an assistant secretary of the Army and promoted to the rank of of lieutenant general, the Army announced this week in a news release.

Lt. Gen. Paul Ostrowski was confirmed by the U. S. Senate in March and promoted in May, the release stated.

The Arkansan now serves as the senior military adviser to Steffanie Easter, the acting assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology and the Army acquisition executive.

In this role, Ostrowski “provides America’s soldiers a decisive advantage in any mission by developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining the world’s best equipment and services and leveraging technologies and capabilities to meet current and future Army needs, enabling our soldiers to dominate the battle- space safely and securely,” the release said.

Before his current position, Ostrowski served as the deputy commanding general for support of the Combined Security Transition Command- Afghanistan.

He was previously the executive officer to the commander of U. S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida after several special forces and infantry assignments.

During Ostrowski’s promotion ceremony, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley heaped praise on the Arkansan.

“In Paul Ostrowski, we have a man of tremendous character,” Milley said. “We have a man that has impeccable integrity. He is exceedingly well prepared in everything he does.”

Ostrowski’s father, Thad, a Navy veteran who served in World War II, and mother, Marilyn, live in Little Rock.
