She was born July 25, 1943 in Okmulgee, Okla., to Melvin and Isaberry Stahl. She was raised in Pine Bluff, Ark., and graduated Pine Bluff High in 1961 and graduated nursing school in Little Rock in 1964.

––––– – –––– THEODORE CHARLES LAMB of Little Rock, Ark., died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the age of 65. He was born January 4, 1952 in Syracuse, N. Y., to Theodore Lafayette and Ardella Faye Lamb. He was known as Ted to his friends and family.

Ted graduated high school in 1970 from Olney Friends School in Barnesvill­e, Ohio. He attended Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., and graduated in 1974 with a BS in Biology. After college, Ted started a framing crew with his friend Robbie Abernathy. During this time, he met his wife, Joyce Ann Wofford. After meeting Joyce, Ted returned to school to become a lawyer and graduated from Bowen Law School in Little Rock, Ark., in 1983. He practiced civil law as a young attorney working at his own private practice. Ted eventually specialize­d in employment law while working for the Equal Employment Opportunit­y Commission. He began his work with the EEOC in Charlotte, N. C., in 1997 as an attorney. In 1999, Ted transferre­d to the Little Rock branch where he worked as a mediator, administra­tive judge, and eventually the ADR coordinato­r for the Memphis district. Ted had a great passion for the law, and he believed in equal rights and opportunit­ies for all people.

Ted was a loving father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his family. His favorite hobby was photograph­y, which he started as a child by turning his parents’ bathroom into a fulltime darkroom. He also enjoyed sports, canoeing, storytelli­ng, shooting, and was a lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan. Despite becoming an incomplete quadripleg­ic, he was able to provide for his family and had a successful career. He made time to coach both of his son’s soccer teams and engaged in numerous activities with them despite his disability. He stood as a role model and trusted council for his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Lafayette and Ardella Faye Lamb. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Theodore Robert Lamb and wife, Emilia of Greensboro, N. C., Benjamin Charles Lamb and wife, Lindsey of Little Rock, Ark.; and one grandchild, Benjamin Joseph Lamb.

––––– – –––– RICHARD F. MAHER, 87, of North Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Malvern, Ark. Richard was born September 14, 1929, in Alton, Ill., to Fred and Helen ( Meyer) Maher. He grew up in Pine Bluff, Ark., and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1947. On August 20, 1954, he married the former Viola Susan Brown, of Pine Bluff, in Upper Darby, Pa. Richard was proudly employed as a machinist and supervisor for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, later the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years. In his spare time, he was an avid Razorback fan, a skilled motorcycli­st, and a master engine tinkerer. Richard spent many of his retirement years as the captain and owner of three different houseboats on Lake Ouchita. He will be remembered by his friends at the lake as the consummate marina handyman who was always willing to rescue a neighbor or provide mechanical expertise at any time day or night. Richard was a very supportive husband who stayed by his wife’s side throughout 63 years of marriage. As a father, he was always willing to bait his daughter’s hook while fishing or offer coaching advice to his son on the basketball court. Richard will be most remembered for his integrity, his profound patience, his dry wit, and his heart of gold. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Richard is survived by wife Susan Brown Maher, daughter Melissa Ford ( David) of Hoboken, N. J.; granddaugh­ter, Mary Kathleen Ford of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Noah Bradley Maher, and his mother, Lisa Loftis Johnson and her son, Alex Wade all of Malvern, Ark.; niece, Marnie Huff Davidson of Little Rock, Ark.; and nephew, Dawson Thomas Huff of Apopka, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Patricia Maher Huff; and son Philip Bradley Maher.

Flonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Harry McCorkle, and three sisters. BEARDEN — Linda Jo Fridell, 66, of Bearden died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born October 4, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Bearden. Linda worked for Bearden Lumber Company for twenty five years; she enjoyed working for the Anthony’s each and every day. It was more than just a job for her.

––––– – –––– CABOT — Wayne A. Guess, Sr. 82, of Cabot, died August 8, 2017 at U. A. M. S. He was born in Mountain Springs, Arkansas on June 4, 1935 to Jeff and Lizzie Dean Guess. He was first and foremost, a Christian, a member of the United Methodist Church of Ward, a lifetime Cabot resident, a member of Cabot Masonic Lodge# 319, Ward Mt. Pleasant Lodge # 99 and the Cabot Eastern Star # 508. Wayne was the 1st President of the Ward Chamber of Commerce to succeed himself 1994- 1996. He was Ward Chamber President in 1999, 2002, 2007, and 2008. He was elected Chamber Executive Director in 2010, and served several years. He was named citizen of the year, 1997 and 2007 of Ward Chamber of Commerce. He was the 1st President elected of Ward Lions Club in 2001. He was a board member of the Mountain Springs Volunteer fire department. Wayne served on the Mount Springs Cemetery Board for 30 years and the Bank of Cabot Advisory Board. Wayne had battled Multiple Myeloma for 13 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ellis, Jeff Jr., Doyle, Lewis and Paul; one daughter, Pam Guess and his grandson, Michael Burns. ––––– – –––– JONESBORO — Norma Jean Smith Shields died Wednesday, August 9, just two weeks shy of her 80th birthday. She passed peacefully at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro due to the ravages of cancer.

Norma Jean is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Johnny Shields of the home in Jonesboro; children, Mindy Shields of Jonesboro, John W. Shields ( Brenda) of Hardy, Jennifer Baltz ( Chris) of Newton, North Carolina and April Maddox ( Brian) of Jonesboro; seven grandchild­ren and seven great- grandchild­ren, as well as hundreds of friends, dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Gladys Smith.

Norma Jean graduated with honors from Hoxie High School in 1955 at which time she received a full scholarshi­p in Vocal Music from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She received several honors while a student at Arkansas State, being chosen as an Honorary Cadet Captain in the ROTC program, was elected Sweetheart of Pershing Rifles, received the Julian James Award for citizenshi­p, and was a member of the Arkettes, a vocal group that performed in high school assemblies throughout northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri. She was active in Little Theater groups and had the lead in musical production­s of Broadway shows such as “Showboat,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Oklahoma.”

Norma Jean loved to bowl, garden, landscape her yard, and most of all enjoyed family gatherings and celebratio­ns. She served her Savior, Jesus Christ, by singing in choirs, and solos in her local church.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 12 at the Highland Drive Baptist Church, 515 Highland Dr. at 2 p. m. with Dr. Johnny Hutchison, Senior Pastor and Bro. Curtis Shatley of Walnut Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1 p. m. – 2 p. m. Interment will follow the funeral service at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery on Northwest Colonial Dr. in Walnut Ridge.

––––– – –––– MAYFLOWER — Dr. Amanda Copeland, 88, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born August 13, 1928 in Craighead County, Arkansas to the late Walker and Elsie Baldridge. She earned her Doctorate in education and went on to teach at Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas from 1960 to 1970. Then she became the Kiamichi Technology Center Director in Stigler, Oklahoma from 1989 to 1995. She was also a marriage and psychology counselor and a Red Cross member. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmothe­r and great- grandmothe­r.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ravaina Lynn Copeland and Nancy Mae Baldree; six grandchild­ren and twelve great- grandchild­ren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. S. Copeland Jr.; son, C. W. Copeland; as well as two brothers, Devain Baldridge and Raymond Baldridge.

––––– – –––– RUSSELLVIL­LE — Joseph “Jobey” Edward Machycek Jr., age 28, of Russellvil­le, passed away on August 6, 2017. He was born to Joseph and Tina Machycek in Little Rock on March 7, 1989. He loved to golf and was a fan of the Razorbacks and I- 30 Speedway. He attended Arkansas Tech University where he studied for his Bachelors of Science in secondary education; Social Studies. He would have graduated in May of 2018.

Jobey is preceded in death by his grandparen­ts, Carroll E. and Jewel C. “Mawmaw” Rackley and grandparen­ts- in- law, Raymond Franklin and Doris Pelton, and Evia May and Charles Feldman. He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Eileen Machycek; parents, Joseph Edward Sr. ( Linda) and Tina Rackley Machycek; sister, Tiphanie Machycek ( Brandon); two nieces, Jasmine and Tessa; one nephew, Bo; grandparen­ts, John D. “Papa Check” Machycek ( Lawanna “Grams”) and Margaret Ann Bridgeman “Nana” ( Homer); mother- in- law and fatherinla­w, Laura and Jerry Pelton; brother- in- law, Charles Pelton, as well as a host of family and friends who all love and miss him dearly.

––––– – –––– RUSSELLVIL­LE — Danny Trusty, age 64, of Russellvil­le, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, of a massive heart attack at his home. He was born October 20, 1952, in Paris to Gordon James and Margie Ruth Horne Trusty. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 4th degree. Danny retired from Morrilton Packing in January after 27 years. He was so happy spending more time with his grandkids and gardening with Carol.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carol Trusty; a son and daughter- in- law, Jeff and Destini Trusty of Conway; a daughter and son- in- law, Erica and Cory Hann of Cabot; two brothers and sisters- in- law, Jon and Laresa Trusty of Belton, Texas and Joe and Jackie Trusty of Cabot; and four grandchild­ren, Daniel Trusty, Abigail Hann, Anabelle Trusty and Ava Hann.

The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m ., Monday, August 14,2017, at St. John’s Catholic Church officiated by Father Mauricio Carrasco. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery near Midway and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellvil­le.
