Happy Together tour brings golden oldies to Oaklawn

The Happy Together Tour returns to Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs for a performanc­e at 7 p.m. Friday, presenting The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, The Associatio­n, Chuck Negron, The Box Tops, The Cowsills and The Archies starring Ron Donte. Tickets are $45 and $55.

Richard Leo Johnson will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at The Joint in North Little Rock. Admission is $25.

Johnson, a native of El Dorado who now lives with his wife, Jane, in Savannah, Ga., is a noted self-taught acoustic guitarist whose most recent local performanc­e was at the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock a year ago, when he not only played guitar but displayed photograph­ic images that he had recently rediscover­ed after losing much of his archives in a fire while living in Eureka Springs.

During his career as an architectu­ral photograph­er, Johnson has released albums that have been described as idiosyncra­tic. He has released two albums for the prestigiou­s jazz label Blue Note Records, three on the Cuneiform label and two independen­tly. He has named as his influences Leo Kottke, Pete Townshend and John McLaughlin.

A celebratio­n of the life of

Jason Adams will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Adams, who died in his sleep July 23, was a drummer who had been a member of Mojo Depot (the band was originally known as Loose Change) and Weakness for Blondes, and he also played in other bands. Admission is by donation.
