Raymond passed peacefully at home and was ushered by angels to God’s Glory after requesting to see his garden one last time. Raymond was the oldest of three children born to Louis and Janie Cobb. Born September 24, 1933 in Akron, Ohio.

He preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Diane Walters and Mary Primus. Survived by his wife, Lottie Marie Finley-Cobb; seven children, Michael, Anthony (wife Doris) Darryl, Sedrick, Gayle, Byron, and Sherry; seven grandchild­ren, Robbie, Anthony, Reginald, Michael, Alyssa, Devon and Micah and, seven great-grandchild­ren. He had a 30 year career as a Regional Personnel Manager at CL&P. Private services with Military Honors will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Richard “Rick” was born in Bridgeport, Conn., to Edra Faye and Nicholas DiMassimo. The family moved to Little Rock in 1956. Rick began school at Our Lady of the Holy Souls, where he met his future wife, Ann Connaughto­n. He later graduated from Hall High school and Pulaski Technical College. He and Ann were married in 2012. Rick was a lover of music, the Razorbacks, and his grandchild­ren.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Edra Faye and Nicholas DiMassimo. He is survived by his wife, Ann DiMassimo; sister, Lisa Griffith; children, Walker DiMassimo (Hilary), Rachel Griffin (Kevin), and step-son, JD Ruple; grandchild­ren, Savannah Spann, Neveah Bienvenu, Sophia DiMassimo, Kennedy Griffin, and Casey Ruple.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31 at Little Rock Funeral Home at 5 p.m. followed by Rosary at 6 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church. Rick will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock followed by lunch at Holy Souls Parish Hall for close friends and family.

BEQUITA BUMPERS HUGGINS GRAY, 93, of Little Rock passed away August 28,

2017, peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Lorenzo Glen and Floy (Flanagan) Bumpers on June 23, 1924, in Charleston, Arkansas.

In early childhood, Bequita and her family moved to Paris, Arkansas. In her senior year of high school, she was not only a Homecoming Maid but also the Salutatori­an of the class of 1942. Bequita attended State Teachers College in Conway and later the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le.

With the family’s theater business, the Bumpers moved to Vian, Oklahoma. There she met Miller Huggins. Bequita and Miller married October 16, 1949. Two children followed: Heather Ann and James Glen. Tragedy struck the Huggins in January of 1970. Miller and the two children perished in a house fire with Bequita surviving. Rebuilding her life, she became involved in her cousin Dale Bumpers’ campaign bid for Governor in 1970. Following his election, Bequita moved to Little Rock. Charles Henry Gray, her first boyfriend from Paris, and she began life together as they married May 12, 1972. Charles Henry passed away in March of 2003 and Bequita remained in Little Rock until her death.

Throughout Bequita’s life in Oklahoma and Arkansas, she was active in multiple church and social organizati­ons. She taught children’s vacation Bible school as well as Sunday School. Bequita was a member of many Bible studies and she and Charles Henry were active in First United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

Being a gifted alto, Bequita was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir. She also loved and enjoyed her weekly bridge games with close friends at Little Rock Country Club. And, Bequita and Charles Henry loved to dance!

Mrs. Gray is survived by her sister, Bernese Bumpers Carey Stephens; her niece, Jana Carey Merideth (Baughn, Sr); great-nephew, Baughn Thomas Merideth, Jr (Randi); greatniece, Caroline Merideth Tipton (Michael) all of Caruthersv­ille, Missouri. Step-daughters: Ann Gray James (Richard) of El Dorado and their children: Andrew James (Sarah) and William James (Katherine); and Gretchen Gray (Tim Dater) of Little Rock and her children: Gray Norton and Elise Riedel (Alan); and the late Mary Britton Norton. Stepgreat-grandsons, Hank Gray and Chad Gray, sons of Charles Henry “Hank” Gray III, who preceded Bequita in death in July of 1996. Bequita also leaves a host of cousins she dearly loved.

The family wishes to thank her special Little Rock friends who continued to visit and provide support with love and devotion. A note of appreciate to the staff of Woodland Heights, First Choice Senior Care and Kindred Hospice of Little Rock. She is survived by two sisters, Annette Myers of North Little Rock, Ark., and Lisa Neal of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Richard Harper Jr. of North Little Rock, Ark., and Kim Cooksey of Little Rock, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017, at St. Vincent’s CHI in Little Rock at the age of 82. She was born October 17, 1934, to the late Martin & Tyree Young. Also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers. At a young age she professed her hope in Christ as a member of St. Andrew AME Church and later joined Bethel AME Church, North Little Rock. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1953 and Philander Smith College with a B.A. in Business Administra­tion and attended graduate school towards her MBA at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She also worked for the State Department of Adult Education and Higher Education. Her career included owning the Children’s Castle Day Care Center, Instructor of Business Education at Shorter College and Arkansas Baptist College. Dorothy was truly an advocate and inspiratio­n for education.

Loving known as “Big Mama” and Aunt Dot to her beloved grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews. Her love for family and friends was expressed by serving delicious Sunday and holiday dinners with elegance, tutoring in her home and providing a place to live for students while attending college or just a place of refuge in time of need. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, William H. Hollerman of Gallatin, Tenn.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Baltz, Little Rock; granddaugh­ter, Carletta (Vonzell) Hill; two sisters, Ms. Cora Young and Mrs. Grace Young Morris of Little Rock; and a cousin, Ms. Verma Simmons.

ALEXANDER — Albert “David” Hill, 72, of Alexander, passed away on August 29, 2017. He was born on September 29, 1944 to the late, W. T. and Winnie Hill in Auburn, California. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and could often be found taking his grandkids out on four wheelers.

Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William, Charlie, and Claudius Hill; and sister, Faye Dixon. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Daisy Hill; two sons, Preston McGriff and Scotty (Donna) McGriff; daughter, Tanya McFarland; four grandchild­ren, Ryan, JoAnna, Shelby and Dalton; and sister, Maude Palmer.

Summers, 81, of Fairfield Bay, Ark. passed away August 29 of 2017 from complicati­ons with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Tulsa, OK on July 18th 1936 to James

A. and Ella Summers. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1958. Shortly there after He began a career with Safeway Stores Inc. He served in various positions and eventually became Vice President of Manufactur­ing.

He married Judith Hughes and together they had daughter Laura and son Steven. Judith died in 1985 from complicati­ons from Multiple Sclerosis. He remarried in February of 1988 to Jean Hudson Chumbley in Walnut Creek, California who also had two Sons Chris and Scott Chumbley.

Jim served as a member of the Food Bank of Contra Costa County in California. Jim and Jean retired to Fairfield Bay, Ark. in 1993. He became active in the community serving on the Blue Ribbon Committee, the Marketing Committee, and seven years as President of the Chamber of Commerce. Jim and Jean became active members of Peace Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Jean Summers, Daughter Laura of California, Sons Steve of Arizona, Chris of Arkansas, and Scott of Missouri as well as nine grandchild­ren and three great-grandchild­ren.

MONTICELLO — Kassie “Ann” Birchfield Temple, 37, of Monticello passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at her home. She was born in McGehee, Ark., on June 17, 1980, to Cecil Birchfield and the late Rose Carver Birchfield.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her mother she was also preceded in death by her grandparen­ts, D.W. and Vesta Eubanks Birchfield and her grandfathe­r, Paul Capps. 2017, at St. Bernards Village in Jonesboro. He was born January 23, 1925, in Armorel, to R.H. “Bob” And Lockie Lee Robinson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving stateside and in the Pacific. He attended Texas A&M, and was a graduate of the University of Louisville, with a degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g. He was a farmer of 40 years, in partnershi­p with his son in Mississipp­i County. He was an avid tennis player, enjoying playing in tournament­s throughout the Mid-South area as a senior.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Imogene “Gene” Quinn Robinson; his parents; two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his son, Lowry E. SPRINGDALE — Wanda Karnes Irwin, age 87, a resident of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born February 24, 1930 in Cane Hill, Arkansas, the daughter of Stirman and Gladys D (Curtis) Karnes. Wanda was a current member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale, Arkansas. She had previously been a member of the First Presbyteri­an Church of Springdale, Arkansas from 1960-1977 and

Cane Hill Presbyteri­an Church from her childhood to 1960.

Wanda Karnes married James Clark Irwin on December 26, 1949. She graduated with her Bachelors of Business Education in 1951. She taught for a few years in the Prairie Grove School District before moving to Springdale with James who went to work for Tyson’s.

Wanda and her husband, James, loved sports and seldom, if ever, missed a game their sons, Jim and Clark were playing. They were especially proud when Jim and Clark played for the Arkansas Razorbacks, and have been big supporters of the Razorback Foundation for many years.

Wanda was a wonderful homemaker and loved having friends over for watching ballgames, playing bridge, and entertaini­ng. Her bridge club and “lunch bunch” of many decades knew her to be an avid bridge player who sometimes helped teach others to play.

Wanda loved her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren very much and just recently spent time with all of them. She and James traveled nationally and internatio­nally in their younger years and Wanda was so glad to have had that opportunit­y with him.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Clark Irwin; two brothers, Curtis Karnes and Warren Karnes; and two sisters, Marguerite Deaton and Merril Brown. Survivors include her three children, James Stirman Irwin of Little Rock, Arkansas, Charles Clark Irwin of Springdale, Arkansas and Paula Kay Irwin also of Springdale; her six grandchild­ren, Jill Irwin Penick and husband Dr. Edward Moore Penick III, James Clark Irwin II and wife Megan Allen Irwin, Carrie Irwin Farrell and husband Josh and Lauren Irwin Iler and husband Blaine, Hannah Kay and Hailey Ann Herdlinger; her eight great-grandchild­ren, Edward Moore Penick IV, Worthen Clark Penick IV, Catherine Irwin Penick, James Clark Irwin III, John Cole Irwin, Crew James Farrell, Kate Parker Farrell, and Brooklyn Elise Farrell; and one sister, Allean Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

WARD — Henry Eugene “Gene” Howell Jr., was born on “first and twelfth of ‘56” in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Henry, Sr. and Donna Howell. Gene passed away at UAMS on August 27, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the oldest of five children.

Gene was a hardworkin­g and loving man who had a smile for everyone. He loved spending time with family and friends around a good meal. Gene also enjoyed raising pigs as a hobby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Donna; son Bradley; sister, Carrie Wood; and father-in-law, Guthery Hall. Bill was born in Lonoke, Arkansas, on October 12, 1937. He graduated from Lonoke High School and continued to receive degrees from Texarkana College, Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA), and a Masters degree from the University of Mississipp­i. Bill married Kerin Kittler on August 30, 1958; they were married 59 years.

Bill served as a coach and teacher for 43 years in Marked Tree, Wilson, Jonesboro, Jacksonvil­le, and Texarkana, Arkansas; Simms, Texas; and Bartlett, Tennessee.

His coaching career includes three state championsh­ips in football (Jacksonvil­le 1976, 1978, and 1981), producing nine players that played in the NFL (including NFL Hall of Famer Dan Hampton and two-time Super Bowl Champion Rod Smith). His coaching and athletic director honors include: Arkansas High School Football Coach of the Year (twice); Lowell Manning Outstandin­g High School Football Coach (twice); Curtis King Career Service Coaching Award; Buzz Bolding Lifetime Achievemen­t Award; Athletic Director of the Year (three times); National Interschol­astic Athletic Administra­tors Associatio­n Award of Merit; and was inducted into the Arkansas High School Coaches Associatio­n, Arkansas High School Athletic Administra­tors Associatio­n, and the Jacksonvil­le Sports Halls of Fame along with numerous other honors.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kerin; two sons and daughtersi­n-law: Scott and Connie Reed of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Mark and Wendy Reed of Texarkana, Texas; six grandchild­ren: Taylor, Lucas, Dustin, William, Andrew, and Gabrielle; one sister: Dorothy Oliver of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law: Kara Jackson of Searcy, Arkansas, and a brotherin-law: Henry Kittler of Forrest City, Arkansas, and numerous other family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna Reed, sisters: Lou Jefcoats, Mary Cowen, and Anna George Reed.
