A Veterans Best Friend Anniversary Celebration CABOT — A Veterans Best Friend will host its fifth-anniversary celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 68 S. Pine St. The event, which is open to the public, will feature food, drinks and a silent auction. AVBF is a nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to veterans in need. Murder-Mystery Fundraiser BATESVILLE — The Independence County Library Friends Foundation will present a three-course meal and a murder-mystery production of the original play Murder by

Batesville Fall Outdoor Sports Show BATESVILLE — The first Batesville Fall Outdoor Sports Show will take place both days at the new Batesville Community Center. The show will feature nearly 29,000 square feet of indoor display and demonstration space, virtual outdoor recreation webinars and

Grab & Go CABOT — A drive-thru fundraiser for the Wade Knox Child Advocacy Center will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cabot Junior High School South. For $20 a plate, customers will receive, fish, chicken and barbecue with all the trimmings. Preorders are required. No tickets will be sold the day of the event. Watercolor Demonstration FAIRFIELD BAY — Artist Suzanne deShazo Waggoner will present a free watercolor demonstration at 10 a.m. at Bayside Studio on the corner of Greenwood and Arkansas 330. Vietnam War Veterans Meetings MELBOURNE — The Izard County Veterans Service Office is sponsoring meetings for veterans of the Vietnam War era, all service branches. The group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon every first and third Thursday in the old Kustom Made Graphics building, 614 Main St., directly across from Mark’s Pharmacy. All are welcome to attend for coffee, talk, pastries and tales. Parking will be in the shopping-center parking lot.
