Two-time Grammy winning, primarily classical guitarist and composer Andrew York will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at The Joint, 301 Main St., in North Little Rock’s Argenta Arts District. FRIDAY Season kickoff

The Conway Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 33rd season with a concert, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Simon Park, Front and Main streets, Conway. The program of “audience favorites” and previews of the orchestra’s 2017-18 season will include the Rosamunde Overture by Franz Schubert, “Farandole” from L’Arlesienne by Georges Bizet, the second (“A Ball”) and fourth (“March to the Scaffold”) movements from Symphonie Fantastiqu­e by Hector Berlioz, selections from The Sound of Music by Richard Rodgers (arranged for orchestra by Richard Rodney Bennett) and The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa. Israel Getzov and Gunnar Bartlett conduct.

Concert underwrite­r is Southweste­rn Energy. Admission is free; blankets and lawn chairs allowed. Food will be sold — gourmet grilled cheese from the Say Cheese food truck and ice cream from the Dream Cart. In case of rain, the concert will move to the auditorium at Snow Fine Arts Center, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. SATURDAY Dash-N-Bash

Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Hematology and Oncology unit staff will raise money for its Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Program via the fourth annual Superhero Dash-N-Bash Fundraiser, 10 a.m. Saturday at Murray Park, off Rebsamen Park Road, Little Rock. This event will feature superhero-theme music, games, food and a bounce house for kids; a Bald Is Beautiful and Cut It for Cancer station; a memorial balloon release; and a celebratio­n 1K victory walk over the Big Dam Bridge, noon-1 p.m.

Arkansas Children’s Hospital treats approximat­ely 90 percent of all pediatric cancer cases in the state. September is Pediatric Cancer awareness month.

Blythevill­e jazz band

The Over the Hill Gang will play historic jazz and familiar big band tunes to open the Arts Council of Mississipp­i County’s 2017-18 season at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ritz, 306 W.
