New cooking show set for Oct. 9 debut

Little Rock is partnering with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to start a cooking show on the local access channel, featuring local chefs and organizati­ons.

The series will be called

Chop the Rock and will air Mondays at 7 p.m. The first show will be broadcast Oct. 9 on Comcast Channel 11 and AT&T Uverse Channel 99. The Little Rock local access channel is available to 40,000 houses in the area.

The show can also be watched on the city and bureau’s YouTube channels.

Kathy Webb, who serves as vice mayor, will represent the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance in the first episode as she cooks Asian peanut butter noodles with sauteed greens.

On Oct. 16, Shane Henderson will represent the Ben E. Keith food and beverage distributi­on company as he demonstrat­es how to cook early fall wheat berry salad.

Mark Abernathy with the Red Door and Loca Luna will cook frijoles borrachos and steak tampiquena Oct. 23.

On Oct. 30, Hollie Sanders will represent the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and teach dutch oven cooking with panhandler spaghetti.

Each week’s show will re-air at 3 a.m. and noon on Tuesdays; 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesdays; 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursdays; 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Fridays; 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturdays; and 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
