WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT FROM THE GO HOG WILD BBQ COOKOFF?

The cook-off brings together teams from all over the state and surrounding areas. We will have entertainment the evening of Oct. 6, as well as Oct. 7 during the afternoon. We welcome everyone to come by then to sample some of the food the cooks have prepared, as well as enjoy entertainment and see who will be the grand champion of this year’s event.

WHAT KINDS OF CONTESTANTS PARTICIPATE IN THE COOK-OFF?

The competition is open to all cook levels. We have had teams that have never competed in competitions before, as well as teams who have been in large national cook-offs. We are open to all experience levels.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR CONTESTANTS?

I would encourage all contestants to have a good time, enjoy themselves and not be intimidated.

HOW CAN TEAMS JOIN THE COOK-OFF?

Entry forms are available on the Grant County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and website, grantcounty

chamber.com, or call the chamber at 870-942-3021. The cook-off is open to all experience levels, so get signed up, and join us for this year’s event.

WHAT DO YOU MOST LOOK FORWARD TO AT TIMBERFEST?

I have always looked forward to this event, growing up in Sheridan, but actually, working with the Grant County Chamber of Commerce is especially rewarding because I get to take part in all of the ins and outs of the event I grew up loving so much.

WHAT MAKES SHERIDAN A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES?

Aside from our incredible school system, Sheridan is just one of those towns that feels like home. There is a real sense of community here.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE SHERIDAN COMMUNITY?

This town is filled with genuinely good people. Everywhere you go, you see examples of that. People in this town genuinely care about each other and support one another. It’s a comforting feeling.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE SHERIDAN TO A FIRST-TIME VISITOR?

I think the other questions pretty much answer that. It’s a small town filled with amazing people who support one another. You’re close enough to all of the conveniences of a big city, but far enough away to feel safe and secure with your family.
