MOUNTAIN VIEW — Ozarka College in Mountain View will offer eight-week series of yoga classes through the Continuing Education program. The next series will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Oct. 10. There will be two sessions offered each day, allowing participants to select the time most convenient for them. Tuesday sessions will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. and from 5:45-7:15 p.m., and Thursday sessions are available from 5-6:30 p.m. and 6:45-8:15 p.m.

The instructor will be Rachel Olivia Bishop, who has been practicing yoga for six years, is currently enrolled in a certified yoga teacher-training program and offers a wide variety of yoga classes. This series of classes will focus on the active side of the practice, breathing and body awareness. The classes are appropriate for students who are new to yoga or want to improve their practice.

The classes will focus on poses that increase body awareness and activeness.

“Starting with breathing exercises to clear your headspace, we will take a journey into yoga using a vinyasa style, which includes a flow of different poses connecting your head, heart and soul,” Bishop said. “We will then take time to check back in and relax before ending our class.”

Participants are welcome to bring their own yoga mat, blocks, straps, etc.; however, there will be a few yoga mats available at class. The cost for two classes per week (Tuesday and Thursday) for eight weeks is $160 per student, or $150 for people ages 60 and older. Preregistration is required.
