From gold and bronze to violet and orange, autumn brings forth a winning array of colors to accentuate makeup palettes, as well as new opportunities to glam up. Here are a handful of makeup styles that signal the coming of the season. CHAMPAGNE AND BURGUNDY

Ideal for cocktail parties, this look partners bold burgundy lips with subtle champagne cat eyes. After applying foundation and blush, doll up the eyes with mascara, dust light champagne powder up to the brows, and blend bronze into the crease. Then line the top and bottom lids in black, extending the line just past the outside corners of the lid to make a cat eye. Finish with burgundy lipstick and powder.

FALL COLORS

This brown smokey eye is a great day-to-day style. Start with foundation, blush and mascara. Apply metallic bronze on the lid; then blend a medium brown into the crease. Add some green to the outside half of the crease for flair, blend tan up to the brows, and line with dark brown. Some orange lipstick provides a pop of bright color. Finish with powder.

SMOKED PLUM

Plum eye shadow offers a sensual, mysterious look for a night out. After applying foundation and blush, layer lavender up to the brow, a medium violet up to the crease and dark violet in the crease. Mascara and simple black eyeliner on the top and bottom lids complete the eyes. A lightgold lip gloss complements the bold eyes. Use powder to set the makeup.

SCHOOL SPIRIT

Cheer on the home team with makeup in school colors. Here, green and gold create an ombre effect on the eyes. Apply foundation, blush and mascara. Then apply the lighter color up to the brows. Starting at the outside edge of the lid, blend the darker color inward. Then line the eyes with one color, and add lipstick in the other color. Apply some powder, and head for the stadium.

DAYTIME HALLOWEEN

This office-approved Halloween look is festive but not too frightening. Apply foundation and mascara, line the eyes with black, add a thick ring of black eye shadow around the eyes, and apply red eye shadow around the black in an oversized cat-eye shape. Add a coat of dark red lipstick, and finish with translucent finishing powder for a ghostly effect.

NIGHTTIME HALLOWEEN

Take this look trick-or-treating by adding a spidery touch. Add four lines of black eyeliner: straight up from the eye, out from the corner of the cat eye, and diagonally above and below the cat eye; then connect those lines with two sets of perpendicular lines to create a spiderweb. Finish the eyes with red stick-on gems. Line the lips in black, and say “Boo!”
