Will conductor Philip Mann use a baton or a wand? The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is offering a pair of concerts titled “The Magical

Famed director Werner Herzog and honorary chairman actress Kathleen Turner headline the opening weekend of the 26th annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, at the Arlington Hotel, 249 Central Ave., Hot Springs. Turner welcomes festivalgoers before the 7 p.m. Friday screening of Laddie: The Man Behind the Movies, a daughter’s journey to discover her father, producer Alan Ladd Jr. ($40 tickets include the 6 p.m. pre-show Popcorn & Champagne Toast and the after party; $15 movie only). Herzog will take part in a questionand-answer session following the noon Saturday screening at the hotel of his film Grizzly Man, about a bear enthusiast whose passion cost him his life.
