Safe Home DIY Bacteria Test

What’s to love: A simple way to test for bacteria in a home’s water supply.

What does it do: An at home test that gives the user a positive or negative answer as to whether total coliforms or E. Coli bacteria are present in the home’s water system. The kit comes with a test vial that is filled with water from a tap in the home. Replace the cap, shake the vial to mix the contents with the water and let set for 24 hours. If the liquid turns a shade of bluegreen, it’s positive. If it is yellow, the results are negative for bacteria. The DIY kit sells for $14.95. The company also sells Pro kits where samples are lab certified and test for other contaminants such as metals and herbicides. See envirotestkits.com for more information.

Solar Power Charger

What’s to love: Charge your devices during a power failure or while enjoying the outdoors.

What does it do: It is recommended that the device’s first full charge be done by plugging it in at home, then keep it fueled with sunlight while out and about. The solar panel charger can charge two devices at once and comes with a USB cord. It’s lightweight and water resistant and includes a hanger clip with compass and can be used as a flashlight. An LED light indicates when it is charging. The Solar Power Charger sells for $39. See EverythingTechGear.Com for more information.
