SpectacUALR raises $203,000, honors corporate sponsor Triple-S Alarm
Mary and Rick Edwards and their family have been good to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in general, its athletic program in particular. Through their company, Triple-S Alarm, the Edwardses have been corporate sponsors of the program.
They’ve also served as presenting sponsors for the program’s annual benefit, SpectacUALR, and were honored at this year’s event, held Oct. 5 in the Jack Stephens Center and garnering $203,000 for the nearly 200 Trojan student-athletes. Mary Katherine Henderson and Scott Yant were chairmen of the event as it once again afforded its guests the opportunity to drink and nibble while vying for silent and live auction items as well as raffle prizes.
Ray Tucker, master of ceremonies, welcomed the attendees, letting them know that “graduating champions one semester at a time is something we pride ourselves on here at Little Rock.” Other remarks came from Chasse Conque, the university’s director of athletics, who introduced Chancellor Andrew Rogerson and later, the student athletes.
Rick Edwards, who accepted the evening’s honors on behalf of his family, reminisced about following the Trojan basketball team during their days playing in Barton Coliseum and later, providing flight transportation for recruiting trips. Urging the audience to support the athletics program any way they can, he invited them to return and get their season basketball tickets at Meet the Trojans, an event scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Stephens Center.
