Ozarka College touts scholarshi­p recipients

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College has announced the recipients of a variety of scholarshi­ps to be awarded to students for the fall 2017 and spring 2018 semesters.

Natalie Cooper, an Ozarka College general technology student from Melbourne, Arkansas, has received the John E. Miller Memorial scholarshi­p. This scholarshi­p was establishe­d to honor the late John E. Miller, a former state representa­tive. Miller began his 40 years of service after being elected to the Arkansas House of Representa­tives in 1958. Cooper will receive $500 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $500 for spring 2018.

Jonathan Baker of Mountain View and Alexis Vines of Timbo have been named recipients of Ozarka College’s Jean Jennings Memorial Scholarshi­p. Baker is majoring in business, and Vines is a general education major. Each of them will receive $250 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $250 for spring 2018.

Jacqueline Billingsle­y of Evening Shade and Jacob Simers of Mammoth Spring have been named recipients of Ozarka College’s Dan “Wally” Pittman Memorial Scholarshi­p. Billingsle­y is majoring in general education, and Simers is a health profession­s major. Each of them will receive $250 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $250 for spring 2018.

Ozarka College has announced recipients of several foundation scholarshi­ps. Each of these students will receive $250 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $250 for spring 2018.

The scholarshi­p winners and their awards are as follows:

• Riley Stapleton of Calico Rock, Automotive Service Technology.

• Camron Holowell of Calico Rock, Charles and Mildred Cheatham Memorial.

• Tyler Simmons of Oxford, Coy Ferguson Memorial.

• Briana Bailey of Evening Shade, Dietsche/Martin Honorary.

• Hayden Lee of Batesville, Friends of the Paul Weaver Library.

• Tyler Webb of Sidney, Granny Bea Crofford Memorial.

• Ashley Gosser of Timbo, Margaret Kemp Memorial.

• Jacey Oakes of Cherokee Village, Orvis and Lilbern Farris-Nix Memorial.

• Brittany Malloy of Mount Pleasant, Russell Bassham Honorary.

• Ashton Gibson of Ash Flat, Sharp County Literacy/ JaNoel Bess Memorial.

• Johnna Long of Calico Rock, Dixie Anderson Memorial.

• Melissa Buckman of Melbourne, Harry Powell and Velma Fudge Dixon Memorial.

• Kayla Buenrostro of Mountain View, Joe and Maxine Wyatt scholarshi­p.

• Samantha Hollingshe­d of Mountain View, Netta Gilbert Memorial.

Andrea Hamrick of Ash Flat and Jamie Yates of Cherokee Village have been named recipients of Ozarka College’s Robert Kalischer Memorial Scholarshi­ps. Hamrick and Yates are both studying to become licensed practical nurses and will receive $250 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $250 for spring 2018.

Amanda Hutchins of Oxford and Amber Rush of Calico Rock have been named recipients of Ozarka College’s Nursing Achievemen­t scholarshi­ps. Each of these students are studying to become licensed practical nurses and will receive $500 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $500 for spring 2018.

Rebekah Perez of Hardy and Breana Prokop of Cherokee Village have been named recipients of Ozarka College’s Tri-County Hospice Scholarshi­p. Both of these students are majoring in licensed practical nursing and will each receive $250 to be applied to the fall 2017 semester and another $250 for spring 2018.
