There’s plenty to see and do at Senior Expo

-

Guests at the Arkansas DemocratGazette 2017 Senior Expo will have a chance to learn valuable information, meet interesting people, talk with event vendors and win amazing prizes. The master of ceremonies will be Emmy-award winning meteorologist Pat Walker, co-host of FOX 16’s Good Day morning show and also seen on KARK on Arkansas Today at noon. Walker is a Ward native who studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. “From financial security to healthy living to politics, the Senior Expo provides a great variety of local businesses that can help seniors make healthy lifestyle decisions,” said Amanda Copley, marketing and events director for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “Senior Expo vendors are ready to answer their questions and offer services specifically designed for Arkansas’ seniors.”

Health

During the 2017 Senior Expo, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will have an inflatable walk-through brain on display. This feature gives valuable information on the different parts of the brain, along with facts about a variety of features inside and outside the brain, and information about strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, headaches, brain tumors, brain trauma and more.

Exhibit

The Arkansas Arts Center Artmobile, one of few mobile museums in the country, will be present at the event, as well. The Artmobile’s traveling exhibit, A Feast for the Eyes, presents a visual survey of the evolution of food from fuel to fine dining. All attendees are welcome to tour the Artmobile during the 2017 Senior Expo event.

Politics

The panels at the Senior Expo will cover more than just health topics. The Medicare Fraud and Scams panel, hosted by Kathleen Pursell, director of the Arkansas SMP, will give tips on how not to be a victim of Medicare schemes. At noon, former Arkansas DemocratGazette Deputy Editor Frank Fellone will host a Seniors in Arkansas debate. Panelists will include Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnist John Brummett, University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service Dean Skip Rutherford, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business/Arkansas Sylvester Smith and radio host Bill Vickery.

There will be two chances to play bingo at the 2017 Senior Expo, both hosted by the Arkansas Travelers. The team will be giving away Arkansas Travelers prizes all day.
