At least two people have died recently on Arkansas roads.

A 64-year-old woman was killed and another person hurt in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on an Arkansas 59, police say.

The crash occurred about 7:05 a.m. as Pamela Sue Reed of Lincoln was traveling north on Arkansas 59 in Washington County, according to a report.

Police said a southbound Dodge Journey driven by 26-year-old Ruth N. Santos-Hernandez of Westville, Okla., struck Reed’s Chevrolet Tahoe on the highway near the intersection with Arkansas 244, about 8 miles south of Siloam Springs.

Reed was fatally hurt and Santos-Hernandez suffered injuries in the crash, the report states.

The impact caused Reed’s SUV to travel off the highway’s east side before it re-entered traffic and overturned, authorities said.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were clear and dry, police said.

On Monday, a 51-year-old Oklahoma woman was killed when the motorcycle she was riding veered off the road and hit a guardrail, authorities said.

It happened about 4 p.m. as Laura Faye Juelfs of Pocola, Okla., was riding a Honda GL1800 east on Arkansas 88 in Polk County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

According to the report, Juelfs “failed to negotiate” a curve, which sent the vehicle off the north side of the roadway and into the guardrail.

Juelfs was taken to Mena Regional Health System, where she was pronounced dead.
