Company president Ken Turner, manager Lance Boykin and warehouse manager Hop Turner (who also happens to be Ken’s son), can help customers with just about any flooring needs — and the staff will do so with a sense of humor. Ken, who enjoys his tongue-in-cheek nickname of “Almost Totally Honest Kenny,” co-founded the store in 2001 with David Russell, who recently retired. “Dave used to work in flea markets,” Boykin said. “He’d ring a bell to gain attention, and he’d have fun with the crowd. They eventually named him Crazy Dave.” This year, the store was ranked as a finalist in the Best Floor-Covering Store category in the Arkansas DemocratGazette’s Best of the Best readers’ poll. “We are honored and very pleased,” Boykin said, adding that he attributes the store’s success to the team’s personal service, quality products and installation, and great prices. Unlike many flooring stores, which may only have samples of available floor coverings on site, Boykin said, Crazy Dave’s has 20,000 square feet of products in stock at the store, located just 1/2 mile north of Interstate 40 at the Prothro exit (next to BJ’s Market Cafe in the farmers market). “We are one of the few flooring stores that actually stock carpet, vinyl, laminate, area rugs, etc.,” he said, adding that customers rarely have to wait for their floor covering to be ordered and shipped. “We can also special-order flooring; it usually arrives within a week,” he said. “We have four full work crews, so we can get your flooring installed quickly.” The crews are bonded, and installation is warranted for one year. As an added bonus, the store offers 12-month, zero-interest financing with approved credit and a minimum $500 purchase. “With the help of our close relationships with manufacturers like Brandon Co., Shaw, Mohawk and many others, we are proud to have served central Arkansas for over 17 years,” Boykin said.
