2 Fleetwood Mac members to make stop at Robinson
Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie are twofifths of the lineup of Fleetwood Mac, a band that notoriously takes its time to create new music and then tour. And since it’s easier for two people to make decisions about writing, recording and touring, Buckingham and McVie eventually decided to make an album together and then hit the road.
It’s not just the two of them on the record. In fact, their Fleetwood Mac mates make occasional appearances on the songs — at least drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie do. Singer Stevie Nicks did not contribute to the self-titled album, which was released June 9.
Buckingham is well-known for his guitar skills, McVie plays keyboards, and both sing and write songs. According to press reports, the duo has a backing band that consists of guitarist Neale Heywood, bassist Federico Pol, drummer Jimmy Paxson and multi-instrumentalist Brett Tuggle.
Shows have been reported to begin with a four-song acoustic set by each of the two, followed by performances of most of their new songs and then some of Fleetwood Mac’s songs, including “Tusk,” “Little Lies,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Never Going Back Again” and “You Make Loving Fun.”
The new album has 10 songs, five written by Buckingham, two written by McVie and three they co-wrote. Buckingham also produced or co-produced the album (handling the task alone on two songs and then working with Mitchell Froom on three
songs and Mark Needham on five).
Press reports indicate Fleetwood Mac members are planning to reunite in the spring and start rehearsals for another world tour. Buckingham and McVie intend to also continue their collaborations.
