TODAY Organ recital

Organist Gordon Stewart, borough organist for Kirklees in Yorkshire, England, will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississipp­i St., Little Rock.

The program: arrangemen­ts of Overture to the Occasional Oratorio by George Frideric Handel; the “Bourree” from Suite No. 3 for solo cello by J.S. Bach; Concerto in G major by Johann Ernst; and Scherzando by Franz Joseph Haydn; Passacagli­a and Fugue by Andrew Carter; the second movement, “Andante sostenuto,” from the Organ Symphony No.9, “Gothique,” Op.70, by Charles-Marie Widor; Scherzetto by Robert Cockroft; and the Toccata in d minor by Albert Renaud.

WEDNESDAY Presidenti­al evening

Joe Wiegand portrays Theodore Roosevelt for “An Evening With the President,” 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sturgis Hall, University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.

Wiegand, as Roosevelt, will take part in a discussion on problems confrontin­g the United States in 1917 to mark the 112th anniversar­y of Roosevelt’s becoming only the second sitting president to visit the state (Oct. 25, 1905), when he made a speech in what is now MacArthur Park and met with prominent Arkansans.
