Three people die in road accidents

At least three people were killed in two separate accidents Tuesday.

Two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision on Arkansas 7 on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

It happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. in a curve in the highway north of Bismarck in Hot Spring County.

Arkansas State Police said a 2017 Nissan driven by 36-year-old Felix Bai of Arkadelphia was traveling north when it crossed the centerline and hit a southbound 2008 Toyota head-on.

The Toyota driver, 66-year-old James Hopkins of Arkadelphia, died at the scene, and a passenger in that vehicle, 56-year-old Kimberly D. Hopkins of Arkadelphia, also suffered fatal injuries, police said.

A minor who was a passenger in the Toyota was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock for treatment of unspecified injuries. An update on her condition wasn’t immediately available on Wednesday.

The Nissan driver was also listed as being hurt, though the report didn’t indicate the severity of his injuries.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

An 18-year-old Arkansas woman was killed Tuesday evening when her vehicle ran off a highway and overturned, authorities said.

Shortly before 6:45 p.m., Gabrielle Gates of Black Rock was driving a 2006 Nissan north on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve, according to a state police report.

The Nissan reportedly then left the highway, overturned and hit a tree. Gates suffered fatal injuries.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.
