Veterans Day celebratio­ns set around state

Events are planned across the state starting today to commemorat­e Veterans Day, which is Saturday. The events include:

TODAY

Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks Veterans Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., 1100 N. College Ave., Building 3 auditorium in Fayettevil­le. Jim Downing, the oldest living survivor of Pearl Harbor, will deliver the keynote address.

Hot Springs Veterans Day Parade, 6:30 p.m.; parade starts at Whittingto­n and Park Avenues.

16th annual Van Buren Veterans Day Parade, 6:30 p.m., parade runs from 400800 Main St.

Arkansas State University-Beebe’s 90th Anniversar­y Veterans Salute, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1000 W. Iowa St. in Beebe. The event includes a guest speaker, music, ASU-Beebe ROTC, Black Hawk helicopter­s, inflatable obstacle course vendors and giveaways.

ASU-Mountain Home Heroes and Legends Veterans Fair, Barbecue and Concert, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., 1600 S. College St. in Mountain Home. Mammoth Spring native Ashley McBryde, a country music artist, will perform. Veterans’ tickets are free and care available at The Sheid box office with proof of military service.

SATURDAY

Arkansas Veterans Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E. Ninth St. in Little Rock. Gov. Asa Hutchinson is the keynote speaker.

Patriot Fest, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event begins with a 5-mile walk from Friendly Acres Park in Judsonia to the Bald Knob Veterans Memorial Wall. Afterward there will be live music, food and guest speakers in the Bald Knob downtown courtyard. Performers include Luke Williams, 90 Proof, DiamondBac­k, Bo Ashmore and Rooster Trooper.

Jonesboro Veterans Day Parade, 11 a.m. to noon, downtown Main Street in Jonesboro.

Fort Smith Veterans Day Reception, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Fort Smith Museum of History, 320 Rogers Ave.

Salute Our Vets Benefit Car Show, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., 301 S. Poplar in Searcy. All makes and models welcome with a $25 entry fee. All proceeds will go to Veterans Outreach Ministries.

Texarkana Veterans Day Parade, 1 p.m., downtown Texarkana.

Free admission for veterans and their families to the William J. Clinton Presidenti­al Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1200 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock.
