WINIFRED GLADYS MORTON ALLEY arrived in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 27, 1923. Winifred flew to Jesus on November 15, 2017. She joined her husband of 65 years, Joseph David Alley; her parents, Cecil Richard and Eula Winnie Morton; daughters, Glenda Kay Wallace and Laura Leigh Parton; granddaughters Amy Michelle Goldbaum and Jeanie Hoover; sister Glyn Evelyn Childers and brother, Cecil Austin Morton.

Winifred is survived by daughter, Mary Lou Alley of Little Rock; granddaughter, Cecilia Glyn Sherry (Bobby); grandsons, Nicholas Lee Parton and David Elliot Parton; great-grandaughters, Amber Elizabeth Collins (Joshua), Kattie Elizabeth Persinger (Blaise) and Dustie Elise Sherry; great-grandson, Everett Clay Parton, sons-in-law George Parton and Paul Wallace and her grand-dog, Molly Lou.

Winifred was a member of South Highland Baptist Church for over 83 years. As an adult, she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Willing Workers Fidelis and Encouragers Sunday School classes. She loved her church family.

Winifred graduated from Little Rock High School in 1941. In 1942 Winifred traveled to Walla Walla, Washington, to marry the love of her life, Joe. Winifred and Joe raised their children as a family unit. Mother’s greatest source of happiness was her family and all the memories we shared together and with her adopted family. Mother never learned to drive a car, but she always made sure that we got to do fun things. She taught us to cook, sew and iron. She also taught us the importance of being a family and the love that it brings. Although we are hurting, the hurt lessens because Mother resides in Heaven as promised by Jesus in the book of John, Chapter 14.

Laura had a quote posted in her sewing room, it simply stated “…Sometimes a memory sneaks out of my eyes and rolls down my cheeks…”. We invite you to share memories with us on Sunday, November 19th from 1:30-3 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street in Little Rock for a visitation followed by Funeral Services on Monday, November 20th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. C. Don Cooper officiating. Please share your memories of Mother online at www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
