Fairfield Bay launches holiday season with annual Light Up the Bay

-

FAIRFIELD BAY — The holiday season in Fairfield Bay is a winter spectacular with the annual holiday celebration Festival of Trees, set for Dec. 1-15 at Fairfield Bay’s Conference and Visitor Center, 110 Lost Creek Parkway, which is transformed into a wonderland of holiday elegancy and whimsy to suit any age, family or individual.

On Dec. 1, the Light Up the Bay season kickoff will feature three big-trip giveaways. The event will begin with trees, lights and the warmth of friends and neighbors to start the holiday season just right.

There will be live music, food, holiday drinks, a silent auction and the lighting of the Christmas trees. The trip giveaways include three complete vacations — including lodging, food and entertainment — to Eureka Springs, Little Rock and Branson, Missouri. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at www.ffbchamber.com. or the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce. A portion of the funds raised will support the Shirley Food Bank.

The Light Up the Bay schedule Dec. 1 will include Lighting of the Trees at 5:30 p.m.; holiday fare: warm soups and sandwiches, plus holidaythemed adult beverages; live music, a true staple of any holiday party, 5:30-7 p m.; and bidding on silent-auction items, 7:30 p.m., including the Big Trip Giveaway. Ticketholders don’t have to be present to win but must be present to choose a trip.

Each Christmas tree is uniquely decorated, and attendees can cast a ballot for their favorite. There will be a donation box for collection of nonperishable food items for local families in need.

Trees will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1-15 in the Conference Center. Families are encouraged to bring cameras to take holiday photos. There’s still time to enter a tree, and entry is free. The trees may stay up throughout the month of December and into the new year.
