Daughter’s Club sprang into action on Friday afternoon when one of their own came under attack. This week, conservative media outlets and tabloids have been circulating and reporting on videos that they claim show Malia Obama — former President Barack Obama’s oldest daughter who is a student at Harvard — kissing a young man before a football game and blowing smoke rings. Typically, the media refrain from reporting on the personal lives of the children of presidents and former presidents, allowing them to have some privacy. The reporting caught the attention of President Donald Trump’s oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Both women criticized the coverage, with Trump tweeting first, writing: “Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school-aged peers. She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits.” Soon after, Clinton tweeted: “Malia Obama’s private life, as a young woman, a college student, a private citizen, should not be your clickbait. Be better.”

A major London bookmaker has suspended betting on whether Prince Harry will marry American actress Meghan Markle in 2018 amid rumors an engagement may be announced soon. On Friday, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said that it seems an engagement announcement “is to be confirmed imminently.” The bookmaker has stopped taking bets on a 2018 royal wedding after Markle was seen shopping in London this week. The British press has reported that Markle has already met in private with Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The couple have been dating for more than a year and Harry has asked the press to grant them a certain amount of privacy. Markle is believed to be in the process of moving to London. Palace officials say they will not comment on the rumors.
