Johnsons’ adoptions
Lori and Willie Johnson have four biological children named Micah, Rachel, Jerusha and Keturah. They had three of them before they started adopting children and one after the first adoption. When Rachel died, they took in two of her children.
1. Daniel A 1-year-old from Arkansas with developmental delays including autism.
2. Kyle A 2-year-old with cerebral palsy from Philadelphia. Cerebral palsy is a brain disorder that causes stiffened limbs and exaggerated motions.
3. Levi A newborn from Little Rock with congestive heart failure. 4. Tiffany A 3-year-old from North Carolina with fetal alcohol syndrome and hearing impairments.
5. Shankia A 2-year-old from Georgia with cerebral palsy who had been exposed to cocaine as a baby.
6. Michael A 4-year-old from Philadelphia who was born addicted to drugs.
7. Gabriel A 9-month-old from Florida who was born addicted to cocaine, is blind in one eye and with liver disease.
8. Isaiah A 9-month-old from Virginia with spina bifida, a birth defect that causes the spine to stop developing.
9. Elijah A 1-year-old from California who had been exposed to methamphetamine.
10. Bethany A 3-year-old from Georgia with fetal alcohol syndrome. 11. Zoe A newborn from Georgia with Down Syndrome who was born with bones missing in the back of her head.
12. Gilliah A newborn from Texas with Coffin Siris Syndrome, which causes developmental disabilities and abnormalities in the pinkies and fifth toes.
13. Samuel A newborn from Texas with Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, a genetic condition that causes learning disabilities. 14. Emmanuel A 2-year-old from Baltimore with craniosynostosis, a condition in which the bones in a baby’s brain fuse too early, among other problems.
15. Ben-Zion A newborn from New Orleans with spina bifida. 16. Estie A 3-month-old from Texas with spinal muscular dystrophy.
17. Tirzah A 2-year-old from Arkansas with developmental delays due to drug exposure.
18. Jesse A 9-year-old from Russia who was missing one arm below the elbow and both legs below the knees. He also had reactive attachment disorder, which develops when children are severely neglected before the age of 5. 19. Ethan A 3-year-old from Texas with cerebral palsy.
20. Diamond A 1-year-old from Michigan with CHARGE syndrome, a disorder named for some of the symptoms which can include coloboma (a hole in the eye), heart defects, atresia choanae (nasal blockage), growth retardation, genital abnormalities and ear abnormalities.
21. Ezekiel A 9-month-old from Texas with dwarfism.
22. Sadie A 10-year-old from China with cerebral palsy.
23. Grace An 13-year-old from China with spina bifida.
24. Conneth Their 8-year-old grandson with spina bifida.
25 Ian Their 3-year-old grandson with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
26. Anna A 10-year-old from Ethiopia with DiGeorge Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, which developed before she was born. DiGeorge Syndrome is a chromosomal defect that causes the body systems to develop poorly.
27. Maggie A 10-year-old from China with tuberous sclerosis, a genetic disorder that causes the growth of noncancerous tumors on the body.
28. Samuel A 9-year-old from Ukraine with caudal regression syndrome, a disorder that causes the spine to stop growing.
