WILLIAM D. “BILL” BROWN, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 in Little Rock, Ark. Bill was born in Champaign, Ill. on Sept. 14, 1932 to Pyra Charles and Cecile Arnold Brown. The Browns moved to Little Rock when Bill was ten years old. He attended Pulaski Heights grammar and junior high schools, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1950. After serving in the Marine Corps, Bill attended Vanderbilt University where he was a member of SAE fraternity, and received his BS degree in 1956.

He is survived by his wife Linda Whiteman Brown, his children Amy Simpson Brown and her partner Stephen Popovich of Port Washington, New York; his son Charles Simpson Brown of Little Rock; his stepchildr­en Ellis McGehee Carter and her husband Myles, and their children Myles and Ella Carter of Tempe, Arizona; Scott Thomas McGehee, his wife Angel McVay and their children Milo and Eli McGehee and Chloe Butler of Little Rock. He is also survived by his former wife Caroline Simpson Brown of Little Rock.

Bill owned and operated Brownie’s Oil Company, a distributo­r of wholesale fuels and owner of truck stops and convenienc­e stores. Bill was a past President of the Arkansas Oil Marketers Associatio­n.

Bill was an avid and enthusiast­ic traveler, and loved exploring with his wife Linda, children, grandchild­ren and friends. In recent years he especially loved spending summers in Crested Butte, Colorado—hiking and enjoying the spectacula­r scenery and weather. Bill was a lifelong, proud liberal Democrat who readily took part in marches and rallies, especially in support of equal treatment for all.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St. Little Rock. The family will be at 17 Racquet Court in Little Rock on Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 2-6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Arts Center, Accademia dell’Arte, or the Prostate Cancer Foundation. –––––❖––––– CHAE SUN MORRIS, 80, of Jacksonvil­le passed from this life on Dec. 28, 2017. She was born July 23, 1937 in Seoul, South Korea to Noel Jo Lee and Onya Choug.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Paul Morris of Jacksonvil­le, children Yong Morris and Young Euen Lee both of Duluth, Georgia and nephew Hongju Lee and wife Jongmi Oh. Other survivors include her older sister Han Soon Lee, a younger brother Jae Eung Lee and her younger sister Eun Rye Lee, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home. Interment will take place before the service at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at the funeral home.

ROY F. SHARP, age 91, of Jacksonvil­le passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. He was born Feb. 1, 1926 in Cedar Glades, Ark. to the late Luther and Rosa Sharp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Emma Jean Sharp and his daughter Debra Sharp Varnell. He was a retired United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, Korea and Vietnam Eras. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronald F. Sharp and his wife Lynne, Michael R. Sharp and Dureta, Jeffrey Lee Sharp and his wife Kim, 12 grandchild­ren, and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Merriott Cemetery in Garland County.
