WILLIAM D. “BILL” BROWN, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 in Little Rock, Ark.

Bill was born in Champaign, Ill. on Sept. 14, 1932 to Pyra Charles and Cecile Arnold Brown. The Browns moved to Little Rock when Bill was ten years old. He attended Pulaski Heights grammar and junior high schools, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1950. After serving in the Marine Corps, Bill attended Vanderbilt University where he was a member of SAE fraternity, and received his BS degree in 1956.

He is survived by his wife Linda Whiteman Brown, his children Amy Simpson Brown and her partner Stephen Popovich of Port Washington, New York; his son Charles Simpson Brown of Little Rock; his stepchildr­en Ellis McGehee Carter and her husband Myles, and their children Myles and Ella Carter of Tempe, Arizona; Scott Thomas McGehee, his wife Angel McVay and their children Milo and Eli McGehee and Chloe Butler of Little Rock. He is also survived by his former wife Caroline Simpson Brown of Little Rock.

Bill owned and operated Brownie’s Oil Company, a distributo­r of wholesale fuels and owner of truck stops and convenienc­e stores. Bill was a past President of the Arkansas Oil Marketers Associatio­n.

Bill was an avid and enthusiast­ic traveler, and loved exploring with his wife Linda, children, grandchild­ren and friends. In recent years he especially loved spending summers in Crested Butte, Colorado—hiking and enjoying the spectacula­r scenery and weather. Bill was a lifelong, proud liberal Democrat who readily took part in marches and rallies, especially in support of equal treatment for all.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St. Little Rock. The family will be at 17 Racquet Court in Little Rock on Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 2-6 p.m.

–––––❖––––– GLENN ALLEN GOFF, 68, of Maumelle, died December 13, 2017. He was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, November 11, 1949 to the late William Clyde Goff and Eva Mae Tolley Goff. He graduated from Morrilton High School in 1968 where he loved to play basketball.

Glenn became a profession­al wallpaper hanger in the greater Little Rock market operating his business as a sole proprietor and developed relationsh­ips with real estate developers and builders. Glenn also developed a love for the game of golf which he enjoyed playing for many years.

Glenn is survived by one son, Shane Goff, of Conway, Ark., one grandson and one great grand child; two sisters, Rebecca Calhoun of Mountain Home, Ark. and Cheryl (Terry) Davis, of Conway, Ark., five brothers, John (Mary) Goff of Edgewood, Texas, James (Sondra) Goff of Bismarck, Ark., Lee Goff of Aeweene, Ill., William (Joy) Goff of Conway, Ark. and David (Angie) Goff of Bismarck, Ark. numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following Glenn’s wish, his body was cremated. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Rock Solid Church, Conway, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

–––––❖––––– MILTON DAVIDSON GRAHAM JR. was born on August 11, 1939 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He died in Hot Springs on January 1, 2018.

What defined him is what he did with the time given him between these periods. MD lived life to its fullest. He took risks, he positively influenced others’ lives, he volunteere­d his time and skills, and he made a difference. MD’s family moved to Hot Springs where he grew up. MD lived life on his terms. After serving in the Marines he started the smallest business, a camera store, ever opened on Main Street in Little Rock. Through hard work, tenacity and a genuine love for his customers he grew the tiny business to three successful locations. He met the love of his life Harryette Lee Oswald teaching Sunday school at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and they spent the next 46 years raising kids, traveling, and being involved in their church and community.

MD is survived by his wife, sons, Harry (Yolonda) and Lee (Michelle) Mehlburger and five grandchild­ren, Harrison Mehlburger, Jake Mehlburger, Madelyn Mehlburger, Mary Mehlburger and Spencer Mehlburger. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Graham.

A private memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church followed by inurnment in the columbariu­m. Memorials in MD’s honor can be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. –––––❖––––– ELWIN WALTER LANCASTER, 86, of Little Rock, passed away January 1, 2018.

Born in Modesto, California to Decoy and Eva Buck Lancaster, he was retired from Entergy.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce and brother, Royce Lancaster, he is survived by his son, Steve Lancaster of Little Rock; daughter, Debbie Wells (Lamar) of Maumelle; sisters, Dorinda Berg of California and Jean Ler of Wisconsin; grandson, Justin Wells and great-grandson, William Wells.

He loved and lived for his family. He was a special person who was always there to lend a helping hand.

LTC JOHN H. McCALLA was born April 24, 1944 in Batesville, Arkansas the only child of Nolan and Faye McCalla. He died on December 30, 2017, at Baptist North Hospital Springhill. He grew up in Harrisburg, Arkansas before attending the University of Arkansas and graduating in 1966 with a BSBS. While at the University of Arkansas, he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity. After being commission­ed into the Regular Army in 1966, he obtained his Master’s Degree from Tulane University in 1974. John then rose to the rank of LTC before retiring in July 1992. Throughout his 26 year career, John received numerous medals and awards including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Meritoriou­s Service Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star. His daily hobbies included completing daily crossword, word jumble, and Sudoku puzzles, watching TV, reading, and entertaini­ng everyone with his dry sense of humor.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; and his children, Lynne (Taylor) Trusty, of Water Valley, Miss., Laura (Joe) Anderson, of Sherwood, Ark., and John (Mary) McCalla, of Fayettevil­le, Ark. John is also survived by granddaugh­ters, Callie, Taylor Anne, and Jenna Trusty; as well as grandsons, Sean Trusty and Cole McCalla; and great-grandson, Cohen Trusty.

A service and interment will be held January 5th at 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Arkansas. –––––❖––––– THOMAS EDWARD WATSON SR., 80, of Little Rock, passed away on December 31, 2017. He was born September 12, 1937 to the late Jewell (Bo Jack) and Nellie (Hopper) Watson. He served the citizens of Little Rock as a member of the LRPD from 1965 to 1971 and then sold automobile­s and managed car dealership­s from 1971 until his retirement in 2011.
