MARILYN VIRGINIA ANDERSON, 90, of Little Rock, passed away January 3, 2018. She is survived by her son, Hugh Edward Woodward (Susie) of Little Rock; grandsons, Elliot Woodward and Kenny Brinkley; granddaugh­ters, Bright Woodward and Sandy Brinkley; sisters, Donna Naley and Trish Wood (Woody); and brother, Ray Roper (Patsey). She was a local business owner and operator, and a true Southern belle.

Born in Helena, Arkansas to Ernest and Gertrude (Matney) Baldwin. He was President of the

Alumni Associatio­n for the Arkansas School for the Blind, a ham operator (N5SRB), and a member of Alexander First Baptist Church. He was honored to serve as the first blind dispatcher with A1 Ambulance.

He is survived by his sister, Venita Williams (Joe) of North Little Rock and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Orville graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theologica­l Seminary. He pastored churches throughout Arkansas including: First Baptist Church in Ward; Trinity Baptist in Malvern; First Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff; Gravel Hill in Benton and Trinity Baptist in Mabelvale. He retired from the pastorate due to health issues but continued serving the Lord in churches. He was currently a member at South Highland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lewis Castleberr­y; sisters, Della Mae Martin (Jess) and Frances Nelson (Norvell). Orville is survived by his wife, Molly A. Castleberr­y; daughter, Debby Williamson (Ron) of Bedford, Texas; son, Orville E. Castleberr­y, Jr. of North Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchild­ren, Cindy Vigneron (Brandon), Christy Helms (Neil), Kimberly Viola (Philip) and Scott Williamson (Brittany); eight great-grandchild­ren of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and Tucson, Arizona; niece, Patricia Watson (Leon) along with many other nieces and nephews; and good friend who also calls him “Dad,” John McCaslin. Binz. Margaret was the secretary, bookkeeper and co-owner of her and her husband’s business, Goodman Electro Sales and was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Jacksonvil­le. She was a childhood survivor of Polio, had a love for fishing and camping which she got from her father and was a licensed HAM Amateur Radio Operator.

She is preceded in death by her father, John S. Binz. She was survived by her mother Regina “Jean” Binz who passed away only eight hours after Margo’s passing; her husband of 43 years, Tommy Goodman of Jacksonvil­le; her sons, Jeff Goodman of Scott and Michael Goodman and wife Lisa of Rose Bud; her sisters, Johnette Seiter and husband J.J. of Fort Smith and Vicki Taylor and husband Joe of Fort Smith; her brothers, John Robert Binz and wife Bert of Subiaco and Garry Binz and wife Pam of New Blaine; six grandchild­ren, Andrew Goodman, Melissa Watson, Emilee Goodman, Ethan Goodman, Landon Goodman and Hannah Goodman and two great-grandchild­ren, Ollie Watson and Silas Watson.

–––––❖––––– CARRIE LOU HENDRICKSO­N MURPHY, 88, of Little Rock passed away January 3, 2018. She was born December 22, 1929, at Carden Bottoms in Yell County, Arkansas. The daughter of the late Herbert Hendrickso­n and Helen Keeter Hendrickso­n. Her parents, husband J.W. and two sons, Mike and Rick Murphy and grandson Ryan Murphy all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Murphy was a longtime resident of Gould, she and her late husband, J.W. Murphy were owners of Murphy’s Grocery Store. Member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Carrie was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r.

Survivors are two sons, Randy Murphy of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mark (Sonya) Murphy of Little Rock, Arkansas, and ten grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren.

Born July 17, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, she is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gerald (Jerry) Mosley and her three children, Scott Mosley (Sharon) of Little Rock, Arkansas, David Mosley (Sue) of Fayettevil­le, Arkansas, and Robin Mosley Christ (Randy) of Simpsonvil­le, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Ralph Kolb and her brother, Ralph Kolb Jr.

Dorothy will be remembered for her deep love of her family and her beloved pets over the years. Her kindness, compassion, and empathy for others served as a beacon of light for her family and she will be greatly missed. She was a 1951 graduate of the University of Kansas where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a former member of Little Rock’s Grace Lutheran Church and is a current member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park on Saturday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Dorothy’s name, to the Pulaski County Humane Society. ALEXANDER — Carolyn Earle Billingsle­y, 69, of Alexander, passed away at home on January 2, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.

Survivors are her husband and best friend of over 51 years,

Robbie Billingsle­y (Andrea); two daughters, Amy Buquoi (Mike), Sarah Wood; brother, Robert James Earle (Olga); eight grandchild­ren; and one great-grandchild.

Carolyn loved talking about her grandkids, reading, tending to her collection of plants, and talking about her cows. She was a great conversati­onalist and was always up for a good debate or discussion.

She was an avid genealogis­t and did extensive research on her family and for others. She was a founding member of the Saline County History and Heritage Society. After her children were grown, at age 41, she decided to go to college where she prospered, graduating from UALR with honors maintainin­g a 4.0 grade point average, studied in Austria as a Fulbright Scholar, then earned her doctorate degree from Rice University.

Her accomplish­ments and the number of friends and colleagues she touched from the history and genealogy fields are too great to list.

–––––❖––––– BEEBE — Lorene Parris Word, 101, of Beebe died Saturday, December 30, 2017. She was born August 12, 1916 in Obion, Tennessee to the late Dillard Jackson Parris and Daisy Brigance Parris. Mrs. Word was baptized at age 11 and remained a faithful Christian for 90 years. She was a member of Beebe Church of Christ, a Sunday school teacher and a supporter of Christian orphanages. Mrs. Word also volunteere­d as a den mother and a camp counselor while her sons participat­ed in Boy Scouts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Word was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Wilson Word and six siblings.

Mrs. Word is survived by her sons: David Word of Beebe and Duran Word of Rison; grandson, Jonathan David Word of Conway; and a brother, Dale Parris of Tucson, Arizona.

–––––❖––––– BENTON — Anthony Scott Hayes, 38, of Benton, began walking in eternity on January 1, 2018. He was born September 23, 1979 in Little Rock to Phillip Hayes and Joye D. Gautreaux. He was preceded in death by his mother Joye Diane and stepfather, Bobby Holmes.

Anthony is survived by his father and step-mother, Phillip and Teresa Hayes; brothers, Blake and Adam Hayes; step-sister, Sarah McKelroy; and his forever friend and faithful companion, his dog, Bruce.

2018 at her home with her husband by her side.

From her birth on June 10, 1947 to her death on Wednesday she was truly an angel on earth.

Ann had an unwavering love for the lord and lived everyday of her life serving him. Ann was born in Cocoa, Florida and moved to Arkansas with her husband and son in 1978. In her servant nature, she spent the majority of her life in the healthcare field as a nurse taking care of others. In addition to her love for the Lord, she was a selfless wife, mother and grandmothe­r who put her family above herself. Ann was married to her husband Richard for 52 years, who she first met at age 16, quickly fell in love and married. Her and Richard had a son, Shane, who she loved unconditio­nally and often referred to as God’s gracious gift. She loved her three grandchild­ren, Dalton, Kaitlin and Cameron as well as her daughter-in-law, Maral, with all her heart. Ann will be lovingly remembered by her family who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. In keeping with the wishes of Ann, there will be no funeral service. –––––❖––––– CABOT — Herman William Johnson, Jr., 90, of Cabot, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was born February 16, 1927 to Flora Isabell Pullen Johnson and Herman William Johnson Sr., who preceded him in death.

At 17, he joined the Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. He retired at 50 years of employment at Internatio­nal Graphics, Inc. More importantl­y, he was a faithful Christian man, who was a member of the Church of Christ for over 60 years.

Linda (Miss Linda) taught dance for over 40 years. She taught generation­s of “her dancers” to dance and was proud of each and every one of them. Many of her students have gone on to dance at some very prestigiou­s festivals and pageants like Mt. Nebo Chicken Festival and some even made it to the Miss Arkansas Pageant.

She was a loving Wife to her husband of 59 years, Michael Coulter Hausen; Mother, to her sons, Michael Jeff (Wanda) Hausen and Daniel Joseph Hausen; and Grandmothe­r, to Christophe­r Michael Hausen and Samuel James Hausen. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Irby Junyor and Carolyn Sue Irby.

School and attended Arkansas A & M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Later she attended a business college in Monroe, La. She received a voice scholarshi­p at Juilliard’s in New York City but she didn’t accept. She loved to sing and was a soloist in church starting when she was 17 years old. She volunteere­d as a Gray Lady at many hospitals. She loved her family and friends and loved to travel extensivel­y in the USA and Europe. She lived in France and Germany for about five years.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Foye Lowe Sr. and Fred L. –––––❖––––– DeVALLS BLUFF — Elliott ‘Bill’ Orman Arnold of DeValls Bluff (DVB), Arkansas went to be with the Lord, December 28, 2017. He was born in Oregon City, Oregon, September 19, 1939. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Lee (Owens) Arnold who he met at Ouachita Baptist University.

Bill’s calling was helping people as a teacher, coach, counselor and mentor at DVB schools. Having inspired thousands of youth in Arkansas, Coach Arnold was a positive influence throughout the area. Bill served in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. He was a member of First Baptist Church, DeValls Bluff for 41 years. He is the namesake and recipient of the Bill Arnold Hall of Fame Award. He served on the city council and as commander of the local American Legion.

Bill is also survived by sons Curtis and Army Major (Retired) Johnpaul ‘JP’ Arnold and their wives Nancy and Amy, eight grandchild­ren Isaiah, Georgia, Claire, Olivia and Avery Arnold; and step-grandchild­ren Erin, Hunter, and Dallas Tompkins, sister Carol Cavitt, sister Lynn Bush, and nieces Elissa and Andrea Bush.

–––––❖––––– FORT SMITH — Dorothy H. “Dot” Dinkins, nee McLean, passed peacefully on December 30, 2017. She was born December 1, 1921 in Edinburgh, Scotland to William and Catherine McLean. She served in the Royal Air Force during WWII and while stationed in Peterborou­gh, England, met a handsome young G.I. serving in the U.S. Air Force, the love of her life, James A. “Jimmy” Dinkins. After a brief courtship, they married on February 24, 1945. Shortly afterwards, Jimmy was sent back to the U.S. and Dot stayed behind until their first child, Kay was born a year later. When Kay was 3 months old, Dot came to the U.S. to join her husband. She became a naturalize­d citizen in 1951. In 1952, their second child, Patsy was born. Dot and Jimmy were married until his death July 3, 1986.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 3 sisters and brother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Kay Ladd of Ft. Smith, Ark., Patsy Walker (Bill) of Little Rock, Ark.; her grandchild­ren Brandi Ladd Gilliaum (Shannon) of Greenwood, Ark. and Jeff Ladd (Dianna) of Ft. Smith, Ark. and four great-grandchild­ren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Fianna Hills Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice. She could not have had better care.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Roy and Mary Ellen Eoff, and his niece Lori Ellen Eoff. Roy was active in the Baptist Church, loved the outdoors, and was especially fond of the “Old West”. He was loved by many and will be dearly remembered.

EL RENO, Okla. — Dale W. Simpson, 84, of El Reno, Okla., passed away Thursday, December 28th. Born in Brewer Bottom, Arkansas, to parents John McKinley and Gertrude Alice Simpson, Dale grew up in Arkansas and lived in the state for many years prior to moving to Oklahoma. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Dale was a wonderful, Christian husband, father and grandfathe­r to his family — he loved his family more than anything else. He loved to fish and hunt all of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maeola Simpson; his daughter, Sheila Davis and her husband, Larry; grandchild­ren Alicia Davis and Melissa (Chris) Wilczek; and great-grandson Conner Wilczek; sister, Vivian (Jimmy) Tipton; niece, Kayla (Kevin) Wooley; and nephew, Timothy Tipton.

Whitten lived in

Bauxite prior to moving to Baytown in 1949 with her husband Floyd Whitten, who was employed by Texas Eastern Transmissi­on Corp. They had been married almost fifty years when Floyd died in 1991. She attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphi­a and then went on to graduate from State Teachers College in Conway, Ark. Mrs. Whitten was a charter member of Country Club Oaks Garden Club, Colonial Dames of 17th Century and Baytown Genealogic­al Society, served as Registrar for the John Lewis D.A.R. Chapter, Baytown Porcelain Guild of China Painters, and an active member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1949.
