Bryant man jailed in 2 attacks, chase
A Bryant man faces multiple charges over accusations that he ran over a woman with his vehicle, beat his son, claimed to be a part of SEAL Team 6 and led authorities on a chase that ended along Interstate 40, according to police.
Curtis Huckaby, 50, remained in the Saline County jail on Wednesday on charges that include attempted capital murder, two counts of battery, aggravated assault and kidnapping, according to online records.
The Bryant Police Department said it received a report around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday that Huckaby had beaten his son, causing head injuries that required hospital treatment.
About an hour later, officers responded to a gas station/convenience store on North Reynolds Road and found a woman with hand and face injuries, police said in a news release. The wom- an told investigators that a man forced her outside, attacked her and later ran over her as he drove off.
Minutes later, officers went to another convenience store on South Reynolds Road.
A woman there reported a man entered the store, yelled for people inside to get down and “told her he was SEAL Team 6” and that she “needed to come with him because the store was ‘under fire,’” the report said.
At that point the man “tried to grab [the woman] to take her to his vehicle” but she escaped, the release noted. The man left in a silver vehicle.
Authorities tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled until the SUV ran out of gas on I-40 near the Maumelle exit, authorities said. Huckaby was arrested there as a suspect in the incidents.
Huckaby’s bail was set at $2 million Wednesday.
