My favorite space is: My dining room. That’s where we have our family meals and it’s really special to me. It’s not formal. We’re more of an informal family, but I have a big ol’ farm table that has a bench and chairs and that’s where we all sit around and talk and eat. My grandbabies will sit on the bench with the adults and we cram as many people as we can around there.
Why: Family is the most important thing to me — I have three grown children and five grandchildren — and the dining room is where I host our family dinners. We like to have our dinners on Sunday afternoons. My parents are here and they will come over, and my son-in-law and daughterin-law also come eat with us. Even when my children were smaller, it was important that we had our family meals together. That’s something we’ve grown into as a family and we treasure it. It’s actually a privilege to be able to do that, and we know it, because everybody is so busy, especially with my crazy schedule.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Well, I love this space. I think it’s perfect like it is. I don’t know that I would change anything about it. But I wouldn’t mind making my kitchen a little bigger to go along with it.
