The hair on the heir is no longer quite so apparent. Prince William, whose hairline has been receding for years, has opted for a dramatic close-shaved new hairstyle. The buzz cut was captured by photographers as 35-year-old William, who is second in line to the British throne behind his father Prince Charles, visited a London children’s hospital on Thursday. British bookmakers are looking to profit from William’s hair loss. They are now taking bets on what style he will sport at younger brother Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19 at Windsor Castle. Harry has teased William for years about his thinning hair. Bookie William Hill is offering 1-2 odds on the current closely cropped style, 6-4 on a totally shaved head and 6-1 on a hair transplant.

The monster romance The Shape of Water took the top prize at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday, an honor that often predicts the best picture winner at the Oscars. The movie, directed by Guillermo del Toro, who produced along with J. Miles Dale, beat out The Big Sick; Call Me by Your Name; Dunkirk; Get Out; I, Tonya; Lady Bird; Molly’s Game; The Post; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri; and Wonder Woman. Del Toro was not on hand; he was reportedly in Mexico with his ailing father. The winner of the the guild’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures frequently correlates with best picture at the Oscars. The producers’ choice has gone on to win the academy’s big prize eight of the past 10 years. But don’t discount the exceptions: last year La La Land won at the guild but lost best picture to Moonlight, and the year before The Big Short prevailed with the producers but Spotlight won over the academy. Other winners at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday evening included Coco for animated film; Jane for documentary; The Handmaid’s Tale for drama series; The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for episodic comedy; and Black Mirror for long-form television.
