Hoggard wins pole vault at Michigan

-

Arkansas Razorbacks junior Tori Hoggard, from Cabot, cleared 14 feet, 7½ inches to win the pole vault at the Simmons-Harvey Quad meet on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. She was among five event winners for No. 2-ranked Razorbacks.

Payton Stumbaugh Chadwick, a senior from Springdale, won the 60-meter hurdles (8.14 seconds) and 200 (23.67). Jada Baylark, a sophomore from Little Rock, won the 60 meters in 7.50 and senior Taliyah Brooks won the long jump with a leap of 19-6.

Ohio State won the meet with 150 points. Arkansas was second with 129 points, followed by Michigan (122) and Michigan State (105).

“I think we’re on schedule,” Razorbacks women’s Coach Lance Harter said. “We still don’t have the whole team put together yet, but it was a great experience to go and test ourselves against non-SEC teams.”

Winners for the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville’s No. 3-ranked men’s team were Roy Ejiakuekwu in the 60 (6.71), Obi Igbokwe in the 200 (20.90), Shakiel Chattoo in the 60-meter hurdles (7.79), Brendon Rivera in the high jump (6-10¼) and Laquan Nairn in the long jump (24-11 1/4). The Razorbacks also won the 1,600-meter relay.

Arkansas finished third in the team scoring with 97 points behind Michigan (147.5 points) and Ohio State (146.5).

“We always go to these meets and do the very best we can,” Razorbacks men’s Coach Chris Bucknam said. “There was a team score and we didn’t finish up as we had hoped but we had less athletes there than the other teams, so I think it was a numbers game in that regard.”
