NLR gets rolling, storms past Cabot

CABOT — The North Little Rock Lady Charging Wildcats led wire-to-wire, routing the Cabot Lady Panthers 3711 on Friday night at Panther Arena in a 7A-Central Conference girls basketball game.

North Little Rock (16-3, 5-1) shot 16 of 36 from the floor and held Cabot (7-12, 0-7) to four points in the first half.

Yo’Myris Morris, a TCU signee, led North Little Rock with 16 points. Amber Hawkison added 10 points and made one three-pointer.

North Little Rock jumped out to an 11-0 lead before Cabot made its first field goal. Morris scored six of the Lady Charging Wildcats’ first 11 points in the opening seven minutes.

Chloe Thompson’s jumper with 39 seconds left in the first quarter for the Lady Panthers’ first points, making the score 11-2. The Lady Charging Wildcats entered the second quarter with a 13-2 lead.

Yasmin Ott and Hawkison each made a three-pointer to push the North Little Rock lead to 24-4 before halftime.

North Little Rock held Cabot scoreless in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 10-0 to stretch its advantage to 34-4 at the end of the quarter. Morris and Hawkison had the Lady Charging Wildcats’ points in the third quarter, Morris with six and Hawkins with four.

The fourth quarter was played under the Arkansas Activities Associatio­n’s 30-point sportsmans­hip rule. Morris’ layup made it 36-4 with less than four minutes remaining.
