Philly fans like equine punching

-

Apparently, some Philadelphia Eagles’ fans are tired of the horse play.

Most of the stories regarding Eagles fans’ conduct related to the mistreatment of Minnesota Vikings fans who attended the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field last Sunday. But two other incidents rose to such a level that a segment of Eagles fans were left so disgusted that a charitable fundraiser was launched.

In consecutive weekends that coincided with the Eagles hosting a playoff game, two fans were arrested, in part, for punching a police horse.

In the first incident, Taylor Hendricks, 22, was accused of punching a police horse after being ejected from the Eagles-Atlanta Falcons divisional round game for being intoxicated and not having a ticket. Hendricks was charged with aggravated assault, taunting a police animal, simple assault and defiant trespassing.

And last Sunday, Andrew Tornetta, 19, was arrested in a similar incident. Tornetta is accused of punching a police horse and hitting the rider just below the eye before the NFC Championship Game. Tornetta was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

In light of these events, an Eagles fan started a charitable fundraiser on behalf of Philadelphia’s police horses.

Launched on the YouCaring website, the fundraising drive, called, “Eagles Nation! Support Philadelphia’s Police Horses,” seeks to raise $5,000 for local police horses.

Free beer?

Philadelphia Eagles fans have yet another reason to cheer on the team in Super Bowl LII.

Thanks to Bud Light and Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson, fans are one victory away from being treated to free beer.

Johnson promised in August he’d give out “beer to everybody” if the Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl, which garnered a lot of attention. An article about Johnson’s offer was published on NFL.com shortly after his claim went public, and Bud Light responded to it on Twitter. The company said it would provide the beer for the party if the Eagles could emerge victorious in next Sunday’s Super Bowl.

The good news for Eagles fans is that the offer still stands, according to an official statement from Bud Light:

“Bud Light has not forgotten about our commitment to Lane Johnson, the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia,” a company spokesman told CBS Philly. “We will be sharing plans soon … we are not going to unveil any plans at this time.”

From Norman Chad of the Washington Post on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell:

“Here are three jobs I know Goodell could do well: Maitre d’, Peter Luger Steak House, Brooklyn. Concierge, Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, Hawaii. Toll taker, New Jersey Turnpike, Exit 8. He is uniquely qualified for these positions — the first two, you just stand all day and look good; the other one, you just stand all day and take people’s money.”
