CONWAY — Conway Christian School will host a citywide event on internet safety at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The goal will be to raise awareness, provide direction and equip parents with the tools necessary to teach children how to navigate social media and the internet safely. Speakers will include Carol Crews of the Faulkner County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Kristina Carnes of the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, Detective Brian Williams of the Conway Police Department and Circuit Judge Troy Braswell. The event is open to the public.

Sidney Moncrief Presentation MORRILTON — Sidney Moncrief — former Razorback AllAmerican, five-time NBA All Star and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year — will give a presentation titled Achieving Greatness at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. The event is in celebration of Black History Month. The event is free and open to the public. French 2 With Penny FAIRFIELD BAY — French 2 With Penny will meet from 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27, at the Fairfield Bay Community Education Center, 130 Village Lane, Suite 5E. The cost is $40 for the four classes. Participants will learn common conversational French phrases. No prior class is needed. The class will review French 1 at the first meeting. Artists-in-Residence CONWAY — The Lydian String Quartet will visit the University of Central Arkansas this week as artists-in-residence, highlighted by a free public performance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. Other residency activities, all free and open to the public, include on Tuesday, a public lecture at 1:40 p.m.and a chamber music masterclass at 3 p.m., both in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall; and individual masterclasses at 7 p.m. at Snow Fine Arts Center. Sterling Scholar Speaker FAIRFIELD BAY — Catherine Barrier of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will be the Sterling Scholar speaker from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Indian Hills Club/Little Red Restaurant. Barrier will talk about the role of the state office in establishing the Fairfield Bay Heritage Center Historic District. The event is free, and purchase of lunch is optional. Master Gardeners Meeting RUSSELLVILLE — The Pope County Master Gardeners will meet at 1 p.m. in Room 414 of First Assembly of God Church, 124 E. G St. Suzanne Alford-Hodges from All Saints Episcopal Church will speak about the challenges and rewards of community gardens, the garden plots that are available at the church and worm composting. There is no charge for the classes, but students provide their own supplies or purchase kits in class. Free minor jewelry repair will be offered by the class instructor. Bring broken or outdated costume jewelry to be repaired or updated while you wait, or bring broken jewelry or loose beads to trade for a piece of new jewelry. For more information, email ’Tis the Season Art Exhibit CLINTON — ’Tis the Season is the North Central Arkansas Artist League’s free exhibit at Ozark Health Medical Center on U.S. 65 on the south side of Clinton. The exhibit will be on display until Feb. 12. The collection includes 40 paintings by eight local artists. Artwork is in the hallways near the cafeteria on the upper level and in the outpatient wing through the skywalk and down the elevator to the lower level. The paintings are for sale for prices from $15 to $350. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Hospital Auxiliary’s projects. Humane Society Benefit Bingo GREENBRIER — Bingo, sponsored by the Humane Society of Faulkner County, takes place every third Friday at the Melton Cotton City Event Center, 5 Lois Lane. The Lightfoot Family Band Concert CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library will welcome The Lightfoot Family Band at 2 p.m. Feb. 11. The husband and wife team consists of Joshua Lightfoot on guitar, banjo, mandolin and fiddle; and Tove Thunell on banjo. The couple’s repertoire consists mainly of American traditional music, bluegrass and old-timey gospel, but they also do Celtic and Swedish folk songs.
