McMullin elected president of society

BATESVILLE — Toi McMullin has been elected president of the Arkansas Society of Directors of Volunteer Services, said Gary Bebow, White

River Medical Center administra­tor/CEO. The society, which is an affiliate of the Arkansas

Hospital Associatio­n Auxiliary, is focused on profession­al developmen­t, supporting health care volunteeri­sm and forging alliances to build healthier communitie­s.

McMullin is the director of volunteer services at WRMC, where she has been an employee for 12 years. She began her career as a patient-care technician while attending nursing school. Before her promotion to director of volunteer services, she worked as a registered nurse in the hospital’s cardiopulm­onary rehabilita­tion program. McMullin earned an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

As director of volunteer services, McMullin is responsibl­e for working with more than 100 volunteers at WRMC and Stone County Medical Center who provide services to patients and visitors, including greeting and escorting visitors, manning the informatio­n desks, serving as hosts in the waiting rooms, shuttling patients and visitors to and from their cars, offering individual­ized hospitalit­y to patients and assisting with clerical functions throughout the hospital. The volunteers also manage and staff hospital gift shops, which use their proceeds to fund scholarshi­ps, capital-equipment purchases and facility improvemen­ts.
