Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed Dr. Matthew McDonough of Jonesboro to the state Board of Dental Examiners.

McDonough, whose term expires Sept. 1, 2022, replaces Dr. Richard L. Smith.

McDonough is a native of Jonesboro and a graduate of Arkansas State University. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis in 2007. He completed residency training and received his certificat­e in oral and maxillofac­ial surgery from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 2013. He is a member of the American Associatio­n of Oral and Maxillofac­ial Surgeons.

The board regulates the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene and dental assisting. More than 5,000 individual­s hold a current license or permit issued by the board.
