Alwin Chen, 18, a high school honor student in Clarksburg, Md., arrested for bringing a loaded handgun to school, told investigat­ors he regularly kept the weapon hidden in a backpack or in a holster under his shirt to protect himself and classmates from a possible mass shooter.

Will Akin, a sheriff’s captain in Clay County, Mo., agreed it “might be comical” but still was “very dangerous” for a naked man, who was later arrested, to flee on an all-terrain vehicle and drive the wrong way on an interstate in Kansas City.

Joe DiPonio, a Michigan school superinten­dent, said he officially granted Ruth Frezza, 98, a high school diploma from the Lake Shore High School class of 1938 after learning she left school to help raise five younger siblings, saying “she kind of took one for the team” to help her parents.
