UA to send 18 athletes to championships

The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s and women’s track and field teams will be well represented at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9-10 in College Station, Texas.

The No. 2-ranked women’s team has qualified eight athletes in eight events with 12 scoring opportunities.

Senior Taliyah Brooks is competing in the pentathlon and long jump — she ranks second in both events — and junior Payton Chadwick will compete in 60-meter hurdles and the 200.

Three Razorbacks will be in the pole vault with juniors Lexi Jacobus and Tori Hoggard — twin sisters from Cabot who rank second and third — and Desiree Freier.

Also competing for the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville women’s team are senior Nikki Hiltz (mile), sophomore Jada Baylark (60), and freshmen Janeek Brown (60 hurdles) and Morgan Burks-Magee (400).

The No. 3 men’s team will have 10 athletes competing in eight events with nine scoring opportunities, led by senior Kenzo Cotton in the 60 and 200.

Also competing for Arkansas are junior Obi Igbokwe (400, 1,600 relay), sophomore Cameron Griffith (3,000), senior Jack Bruce (5,000), junior Gabe Moore (heptathlon), junior Jah-Nhai Perinchief (high jump), sophomore Laquan Naim (long jump), and seniors Kemar Mowatt and Jamarco Stephen and junior Rhayko Swartz on the 1,600 relay.
