Whether it’s by the cup or the gallon, many Arkansans love drinking coffee, and one local company works to bring the best beans and brews to its customers.

RoZark Hills Coffee Roasterie in Rose Bud has been roasting and selling coffee beans since 1997. The origin of the business even has ties to one of the world’s biggest coffee brands.

Glenn Curtis, who along with his wife, Chick Curtis, and daughter, Rita Fox, own and operate the business, got his start in the coffee business after refurbishing a coffee roaster for the owners of what would become Starbucks. After seeing the success of that company, Glenn decided to start his own roasting company.

“It’s neat to know that my dad built the first roaster for Starbucks,” Fox said.

RoZark Hills sources green coffee beans from around the world, she said. The business sells a majority of its coffee to wholesale customers but also has a retail space where consumers can purchase freshly roasted coffee. Fox said almost everything is roast to order, and orders are taken on Monday for wholesale customers. She said none of the company’s products are more than a week old.

“When the next Monday comes along, we’re pretty much completely wiped out of coffee, and we start fresh every week,” she said. “We’re real, real proud that our coffee is fresh.”
