A check on president

-

Donald Trump appears to be trying to run the Oval Office like he ran the Trump Organization. Following the hiring of the “best,” the “very best people,” he got rid of those who didn’t agree with his thinking and lost others who have fallen under scrutiny of the special counsel in the Russian collusion investigation.

Like-minded people now aid him. Yes men who will offer little resistance to his view on domestic and international affairs.

This may have been OK for the Trump Organization because the successes and the failures affected only those in the Trump family. After all, he owned the company.

Trump does not own America. He must not be allowed to do as he wishes. What he does affects every one of us. There are checks and balances between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of our government. It is time for both houses of Congress to do their job for the American people and hold him in check.

Trump admires strong men, but is not one himself. Trump’s failure to call out Putin for his cyber-attack on our election is an example of his weakness. Another is his inability to fire anyone face to face. Keep in mind, Trump’s one-man-in-charge approach has not always resulted in positive results.

Republicans control both houses of Congress. That may not always be the case. But since it is, how about putting country before party?
