MALVERN — Hot Spring County Sheriff Mike Collie wants the public to tell him what kind of jail would be best for the area. Collie said last week there are three options to replace the crowded 18-bed jail at the county courthouse. The options differ in who would be responsible for construction costs and who would be responsible for operating the new jail once it is built. Since Collie took office Jan. 1, he has held two public meetings to invite residents to look at the pros and cons of building a regional, county, or county/city jail.
