–––––❖––––– Hallelujah! DARCY LYN DINNING was transfixed by the face of her Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, on
April 2, 2018.
She was born to
W.G. “Bill” and
Vera Margaret
Dinning, Jr. in Memphis, Tenn., and grew up in Helena, Ark.
After attending
Central High
School in Helena, she graduated from Hendrix College in 1971 with a degree in social work. Her entire career with the State of Arkansas, some 30+ years, was spent helping the children of the State: first in the Department of Human Services, and then translating both of them to the Technology Group.
Ms. Dinning’s main objective in life was to glorify God. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and a longtime leader in the international Bible Study Fellowship. She volunteered as much as time would allow to various literacy programs, and taught Bible Study classes to any and all comers. She was “Blessed Assurance” to everyone she met.
Darcy was predeceased by her parents and little brother, Jefferson Tanner Dinning, and leaves the following to grieve for her loss, yet rejoice in her Eternal Life: twin brother, W. Groves Dinning, III, Stratham, N.H.; sister, S. Sharum Dinning, Little Rock, Ark.; niece, Arleigh Cara Dinning, Concord, N.H., sister-inlaw, Katie E. Dinning, S. Chelmsford, Mass.; and kissin’ cousins, Stuart and Helen Ruth Towns, Forrest City, Ark. She also leaves close friends: Carol Roper, Little Rock, Ark., Maria Cherian, Greers Ferry, Ark., and Barbara Blessing, Greers Ferry, Ark. The family acknowledges with gratitude the knowledgeable and deliberative attendance of Dr. Shirley Ong at UAMS, and the loving care of Maria and Barbara during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Study Fellowship, San Antonio, Texas, and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where she was a pioneer patient in 1966. Visitation will be at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 5-7 p.m., and services will be held at Fellowship Bible Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, with interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. “For to me to live IS Christ, and to die IS gain.” Philippians 1:21

In 2016, God blessed her with a precious gift, a granddaughter, Donna Sue Dixon Bunch (Billy). She was also blessed with precious great-grandchildren Dalton Middleton, Cameron and Colton Powell, who brought her so much joy and happiness.
She was a devoted mother and wife. She never met a stranger, and always helped and cared for people. She made many friends in her 30 years of dedicated service to Welch Motor Company in Pine Bluff. She was very active and loved being outdoors working in the yard, or giving special attention to the plants and flowers that she loved to grow. Her favorite time was visiting her sister Shirley and her husband Gilbert in California once a year and traveling with them in their motorhome. She traveled the world with them and enjoyed all the sights as well as spending time with them.
During her stay at the Highlands of North Little Rock, she competed and won first place in the Senior Olympics dancing and horseshoe contest. She was known as Highlands little dancing queen.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to all the C-Unit nurses, and other staff of Highlands who loved and cared for our precious mother. The whole building knew and loved her. There are too many names to mention of those who touched our mother’s life, but you know who you are and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Another thank you to Kindred Hospice for taking such excellent care of Mom.
There will be a private family service in Altus, Ark., at a later date. Donations can be made in Betty’s name to Kindred Hospice or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

After his USAF service, he returned to Little Rock and joined the U.S. Army Reserve. He was deployed to Bosnia in 1999 for a seven month tour with a Military Police unit assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, during NATO’s peacekeeping mission. After his deployment, he re-enlisted in the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) force, assigned to the 90th Regional Support Command until his discharge in 2003.
His talents were many, but his favorites were art and writing. An avid reader, history buff, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock, there is so much more to say about Jason than can be contained in this writing — but we’re pretty sure the newspaper isn’t prepared to publish a book. If you knew him, you know what we mean.
Jason, rest well in the arms of Jesus until we are reunited in Heaven. Love, Your Family.
