Q. Why should I start mammography at age 40?

A. It is a fact that one out of eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetimes. Breast cancer is the leading cancer for women in the Unites States and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. With improvements in technology, we are seeing a decrease in breast-cancer mortality in women who have routine mammograms. The key is early detection, which will find smaller, more easily treated breast cancers. This is why we suggest that women have yearly mammograms starting at age 40, not 50.

Q. How can I get the best deal on car insurance for a teen driver?

A. Although premiums typically increase when you add a teenager to your policy, you can save a considerable amount with the discounts that State Farm provides. If your child completes the State Farm Steer Clear Safe Driving Program and/or qualifies for our Good Student Discount, your teen’s premium will be reduced substantially.

Q. How can chiropractic treatment and acupuncture advance wellness?

A. Both chiropractic and acupuncture treatments correct imbalances in the body, which helps the body heal naturally. Chiropractic deals with the spine to correct misalignments within the nervous system. Acupuncture, on the other hand, is based on the overall flow of energy, commonly called qi, along the meridian pathways and removing blockages that interfere with the body’s internal balance. Keeping your body free of imbalances promotes overall wellness, but it is your body that does the healing.

Q. Why should everyone have a library card?

A. Because it’s free! Every person has the right to use their home library’s services, programs and books. The Cabot Public Library serves everyone in the Lonoke County area. If you don’t live in the area, ask about our Gateway card program. These services and programs are all free to the public and center around education. We have a large children’s department where most of our programs are STEAM-based. We have a large teen department that offers tutoring and entertaining programs for teens. We also provide fun programs for adults, as well as a free coffee bar. Come to the Cabot Library, and see how much we have to offer our community.

Q. Why should I see a chiropractor for back pain vs. a medical doctor?

A. Chiropractic is uniquely designed to treat musculoskeletal problems in the neck and back. Chiropractic offers a nonsurgical and natural approach to help patients with acute and chronic pain.
