LULA “JOYCE” JONES BOUGHER, 76, of North Little Rock passed away April 6th, 2018 at Arkansas Heart Hospital. Lula “Joyce” was born in Tichnor, Ark., to the late Fotion and Eberean Shepard Jones on April 8th, 1941.

Joyce was a homemaker and who loved watching westerns and going to Hot Springs to gamble. She also loved spending quality time with her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Billy Ray Bougher (Tami), Jamie Bougher (Beka), Sharon Setterman (Roger), and Joyce Ann Moody; her sisters and their families, Shirley Adams (Bob), and Linda James. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Bougher, her parents, infant sister Brenda, infant brother Alby, and sister, Sue Jones Siber.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at Oakland Fraternal Cemetery in Little Rock officiated by Pastor Ryan Kidder. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy 107, Sherwood, Ark., 72120.

She was born in Little Rock on August 18, 1925 to Burdette Brooks Chambers and Mary Louise (Bartley) Chambers. Betty was a homemaker and a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Altar Society and the 60’s Swingers Square Dance Club and an avid Bridge and Canasta player.

She is survived by her children; Carolyn Ann Simmons (Greg) of Benton, Ark., and Thomas Patrick Connelley (Marci) of Carbondale, Ill.; six grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Patrick Connelley, brothers, Bobby, Bill and Brooks Chambers, son, Bruce Anthony Connelley and granddaugh­ter, Elizabeth Louise Connelley.

Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th prior to the Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11:30 a.m. with visitation starting at noon at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Rd., Little Rock, Ark., 72209 with the Mass beginning at 1 p.m. Father Mark Wood will serve as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock.

Maxine enjoyed a full and productive life serving others and serving the

Lord.

Born to Wallace and Lillian McCullars, August 30, 1916, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, she lived there with her family until they moved to Little Rock. She was the youngest of four daughters. She is predecease­d by Walter and Lillian McCullars, parents, and her three sisters.

Maxine graduated from Little Rock High School in 1931. Maxine McCullars became Mrs. Edwin Patterson September 4, 1943. She worked for Terminal Warehouse Company for 25 years before retiring.

Maxine gave her life to serving others. Her love of Jesus Christ and her study of His word benefited many people. She taught the Bible to Sunday School classes at Highland Valley United Methodist Church for over 40 years, served on advisory boards and participat­ed in UMW. She was a member of the church for over 80 years.

Maxine shepherded women as a Discussion Leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 20 years. She volunteere­d her time ministerin­g at Riley Oak Manor, Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, and Shepherd’s Cove.

Maxine was a gracious giver. With finances she supported numerous ministries as well as her church; with commitment she supported unknown numbers with her prayers; with time she helped others through Pilot Club and the Department­al Club; with love she cared well for her friends.

Her friends on earth will miss her energy, love, joy and wisdom. Her friends in Heaven welcome her where she will dwell in the presence of her Lord forever.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, Chenal Parkway, Little Rock with a reception to follow.
