Festival is filled with fantastic things to do
From parades to fun runs, Toad Suck Daze is chocked full of activities. The following is a list of events to check out during Toad Suck Daze Weekend.
68 P.M. MAY 2 TOAD ROUNDUP
You can’t have a toad race without the toad. Come out to Pompe Park on Prince Street to help pick out the participants for the annual Toad Races. Find a fine racer for yourself, or snag a racer for a friend.
5 P.M. MAY 2 • 11 A.M. MAY 5 KID’S CRAWL, DRAG AND SQUIRT
This event gives kids the chance to participate in an obstacle course designed to promote fire safety. The Conway Fire Department holds the preliminaries on May 4 at the Central Fire Station at the corner of Locust and Oak Streets. The finals are held on Front Street on May 5.
8 A.M. MAY 5 TOAD SUCK RUN 10K/5K AND TADPOLE TROT
Swap out your webbed feet for running shoes for the annual Toad Suck Run 10K/5K and Tadpole Trot. Presented by the Baptist Health Heart Institute, this event, for participants ages 12 and older, includes a 10K run, a 5K run/walk and a wheelchair event. The Tadpole Trot is for kids ages 4 to 12 and includes 200-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter races. The top three overall male and female finishers in each Tadpole Trot race will receive a traveling trophy, and a $200 donation will be made to the child’s school’s physical-education program. The Tadpole Trot will take place at John McConnell Stadium after the 10K and 5K races are complete. Participants can register at www.toadsuckrun.com.
10 A.M. MAY 5 & 6 AETN MEET THE CHARACTERS
Toad Suck Daze is bringing all the kids’ favorite PBS characters to the festival. This year, kids can meet Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Buddy the Dinosaur and Daniel Tiger. This event will take place on the Walmart/Sam’s Club Interactive Science Stage.
10 A.M.6 P.M. MAY 5 CONWAY CORP. POWER ZONE
Kids can join Conway Corp. in the Power Zone for hands-on fun with the Conway Corp. electric crews and linemen. Kids can check out all the tools electric crews use to keep the power on in Conway.
10:30 A.M. MAY 5 MARDI DAZE PARADE
The official kick off of Toad Suck Daze, the Mardi Daze Parade is filled with floats, music and much more. Come see what local organizations have created, and enjoy food and have fun.
NOON MAY 5 TOUR DE TOAD AND IRON TOAD
The 11th annual Tour De Toad bike race features three new routes this year. A 10-mile Family Ride, a 20-mile intermediate route and a 40-mile route. Each route increases in intensity as you go up. This is the fifth year for the Iron Toad event, which combines swimming, biking and running.
