Nast achieves certification as Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner
BATESVILLE — Deanna Nast has received certification as a Certified Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, said Gary Bebow, White River Health System CEO. Certification promotes the highest standards of practice for clinicians caring for patients with congestive heart failure.
The candidates for certification are required to meet practice requirements and demonstrate a specialized knowledge in heart failure and disease management.
Nast, a Batesville native, worked as a patientcare tech on White River Medical Center’s third floor while attending nursing school. In 2003, she graduated from Harding University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. In 2010, she earned a Masters in Nursing degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Her nursing experience includes bedside nursing in the intensivecare unit and advanced-practice registered-nurse experience in surgery, internal medicine, hospital medicine and cardiology.
Nast serves as an adjunct instructor for the registered-nurse program at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and has had articles published in the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. “I get great joy from sharing knowledge, whether it is to my patients, co-workers or students,” Nast said. “I find that learning is a reciprocal process because I learn something new every day, and I cherish my interactions with my patients, as they also have a lot to teach me.”
