RUIDOSO, N.M. — Gordon Harry Smart Jr., of Ruidoso, N.M., died on Friday, April 27, 2018, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Gordon H. Smart, Jr. was born in Searcy, Ark., to Gordon Harry Smart and Julian Vivian Smart on September 30, 1942. He grew up in El Dorado, Ark., and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1960. He married Sylvia Goodman on March 18, 1965. He was a lighting sales representa­tive for Graybar Electric for over 30 years and served as President of the Illuminati­ng Engineerin­g Society (IES). He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Bronze star while serving in the Air Force. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and past Post Commander of 4292 out of Colliervil­le, Tenn. While in New Mexico, he volunteere­d with the Lincoln County Auxiliary.

He is survived by Sylvia Smart (wife of 53 years), Rhonda and Matthew Robinson (daughter), Christine Smart and John Ragni (daughter), and Gordon Harry Smart, III (son). His surviving siblings include Diane Wilson, Melissa Hulls, and Mike Smart. His grandchild­ren are: Anna Ragni, Olivia Ragni, Isabella Ragni, Christophe­r Robinson, and Zachary Robinson.
